And another 7/10 score goes to a Koei Warriors game.
Well at least you're both being consistent.

Sigh, I was thinking of finally passing up on a Warriors game, what with having played so many of them, but I've recently gotten back into regular SW2 and its rekindled my love for the games all over again.

So, my big question is this. For someone that has played DW5: Empires, what are the major gameplay changes between these games? For example, is manufacturing items now out (seeings as SW doesn't use them) and if so what replaces it and how does it differ? Also do battles still 'flow' in the same way, with enemy officers needing to be defeated multiple time before finally sodding off for good?
Also what's the difficulty like compared to DW5: Empires? Is it still possible to screw up your policy choices but win battles through pure cheesy gameplay skills?

I'm really amazed at the score as yet again OXM360 magazine give this game just 4/10 (issue 19) and EG rate it higher. If I recall it was exactly the same for the last Samurai Warriors game, which OXM360 gave 3/10 to and which EG gave a 7 to (I think).

Having played the last game, I'm more inclined to disagree with EG completely as it was little more than a lazy port of a not-very-good-in-the-first-place PS2 game. While it's obviously EG own opinion, I'd be surprised if any of the other reputable sites rate it so highly... I'm pretty sure Edge and GameSpot have slated it.

You know, when an official magazine (who are notorious for overrating games!) slates a game then you just know it's going to be bad... at least that's what I've always assumed anyway...

I tried liking DW5: Empires but I hated the setting! It was really ridiculous.

The japanese settings is certainly infinitely more striking and interesting .. I might have to grab this when it slips into £19.99 territory :)

YOu cant exactely blame them for being laza given that both the 360 and PS2 version are each availabel for £29.99 on release. if they were charging 39.99 for it then I would be pissed. Anyway, this not my type of game at all but I just thought I would clear out the cofusion over the price.

I've never tried any of the umpteen versions of this game... and I am interested in trying it.

I find just two minor niggles in the review against this game, one is that the battles can become samey (which seems balanced out by the strategic involvement?), and the other being the low camera angle. Sounds like a fantastic game then? Why only a 7?

Actually, i thought dynasty warriors 5: empires on 360 was pretty good, much better than id been led to believe (strategy + 2-player split-screen co-op in battles was a winner for me). But I wonder how different this is, apart from being in Japan, is it just the same game with different graphics? Still, if it gets down to £7.99 like dynasty warriors did, its a must-buy i reckon...

I'll wait for a demo. The ad looks nice but the only thing I ever played that looks a bit similar is Ninety Nine Nights and the demo did not really convince me.

Darren, how about you actually play the game, and form your own opinion of it, rather than over relying on the up their own arse EDGE, and frankly laughable GameSpot?

sigh.. yet again people moaning about scores..

just read the words.. Different people will score things differently. Put me in front of ANOTHER racer or ANOTHER fps game, i'll give it a low score because im bored of them. Something like this might get a higher score from me.

Different people like different things. Its the words which matter on a review.

Presumably because he doesn't want to pay to find out it's poor. This is what reviews are for.

McCarthy you complete twat!! As if this game was ever worth anywhere near 7/10!!! It's easily an 8! Such a disgraceful example of your critical ability. You clearly wouldn't know how to review a warriors game if Lu Bu came and shoved one up your arse!! AH AH AH AH!
