Samba de Amigo Wii to offer DLC News

Wii News by Robert Purchese

22 August, 2008

Samba de Amigo on Wii will offer downloadable content when a trio of songs are added shortly after the game launches on 19th September.

"Mambo Mambo" by Lou Bega, "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow, and "Are you Going to Be My Girl" by Jet will join the main set-list of over 40 songs on 23rd September.

SEGA will announce regional pricing soon, apparently.

Samba de Amigo involves shaking your Wiimote and nunchuk along to on-screen prompts designed to match the rhythm of the music.

The Dreamcast original had actual maracas, but the Wiimote and nunchuk are up to the challenge, using the Wiimote speaker to create the same impression.

Check out our Samba de Amigo Wii hands-on preview for more details.

Yay! Mexican Flyer! The soundtrack to Space Channel 5. I will dig out my iPod and listen to it right now, methinks.

Makes me long for a new next-gen Space Channel 5...

the Dreamcast downloadable tracks were awesome. Especially the NiGHTS song, a Burning Rangers song (although not the song I really loved from the game). God, just remembering that really makes me want a Burning Rangers game on the Wii so I can go rescue Yuji Naka again.

Knowing how the nunchuck/wiimote work.. I'm STILL at a loss as to how this'll actually play..

I cant see the poses working properly (for example)

Count me out.

But... will this be actual DLC or will it be a little thing that unlocks stuff that's already on the disc?

Who cares?

It's tracks they're not including with the original game, that you have to pay to unlock (downloaded or otherwise).

I dont get why it makes a differnce as to whether you're actually physically downloading the track or not.

Doesnt matter to me, doubt i'll download any tunes - i'm cheap.

If they make more stuff AFTER - akin to the Splinter Cell levels for Xbox (which were free), then it's justified even if you are paying.

Selling you a game for full whack and then getting you to unlock the content by paying for it takes the piss. Still, last laugh will be on them if that's the case,a s Homebrew will just unlock it anyway.
