Definitely interested in this assuming the Wiimote and Nunchuk combo work as well as the original peripheral because I missed out on the Dreamcast version, mainly because of the high cost at the time. Having seen the Samba de Amigo stage in SEGA Superstars Tennis, playing as the lead character and listening to that wonderful jolly music, it made me regret having missed the original game.

P.S. This game is obviously going to be much cheaper than the DC original too which is a good thing too! :)

I think using the Wiimote and nunchuk for the game is nice as an option (makes it cheaper at least).....but they should certainly allow the use of two wiimotes instead...and release maracas as well for those who want a more traditional feel.

Is the wiimote to nunchuck cable going to be long enough to perform some of the poses with your arms at full stretch?

Got the Dreamcast version and it is most excellent. It had the rest of my non-gaming family playing way before the Wii showed up.

Hopefully it means I'll be able to pick up a second set of DC maracas more cheaply at the very least!

I'm with CallousB though, 2 remotes would be way better than remote and nunchuk

Good news if this end's up bringing ebay prices down for the DC version. To buy a Wii just for this game would be silly of me considering I have a perfectly fine DC ready to use.
I'll always regret trading in my original copy of Samba, damm PS2 hype, it had us all....:(

CallousB: An excellent point, and a reminder that we've yet to see any dual-remote games surface yet. I remember seeing people using two remotes for a drumming-based game in the very first Wii previews, so it's obviously possible, but there hasn't been hide nor hair of that since...

Anyway, this sound like it's improved a lot from a ropey first build, which is all to the good. Like most, I wasn't willing to slap down a hundred quid for DC Samba, but for a standard price this might be tempting.

Sega would be mad not to offer a 'Dual Wiimotes' mode as surely every person who owns a Wii has bought at least one extra Wiimote?

Can you still shake both maracas on the same spot? like both on the right or both on the left, for double points?

Samba de Amigo is one of the only games my wife has ever showed interest in playing, so it holds a very special place in my heart indeed. The DC's maracas...work...but you have to be standing in precisely the right place, shake in the correct manner, squint, dangle your tongue out at just the right angle, etc.

In any case, I'll be getting this.

I still dont understand technically how this works.. how will it tell how high/low your hands are?

My only guess is it measures accelerating up/down?

Guys, I've just read that Samba does indeed support 2x Wii Remotes as well as Wii Remote and Nunchuck.

Ooh thanks for that madgerald, definitely very pleased to see that you can use two remotes instead of remote/nunchuk. Especially as I have four remotes anyway. Plus, it will be more satisfying having the equal weight/noises/vibrations from both hands. & also as mentioned above, am curious as to whether you can shake two remotes on the same side of the screen, as in the dreamcast version.

Looking forward to any downloadable songs also. Ah the great old days of the dreamcast and its own loveable internet capabilities, where there were extra downloadable songs (for free!) including the NiGHTS song, Super Sonic Racing (from Sonic R- that was a fun tune), and old school Sega tunes also.

Hmm, making me think of the dreamcast, it's made me remember Chu Chu Rocket. Even though i still have my dreamcast all boxed up in a cupboard, I'd quite like Chu Chu to be released for the Wii.

& have I missed any mention of when Samba de Amigo is due out?

480p graphics make it a lot easier to discern the silly details

And the DC version using VGA wasn't?

Here's hoping for lower ebay prices on the original maracas too. Sadly one of the sensors on my old set died, so I'd really need my fix. One of the very few bemani-type games I really mastered.

For the Wii version I had hoped on some sort of Wiimote maraca shaker attachment, but perhaps some third party peripheral maker will provide those.

The game doesn't use the remotes' infra-red camera as they'd have to be pointing at the screen all the time, which is not really possible. It uses just the accelerometer and from that knows more-or-less where it is in 3D space, so it'd be able to tell that e.g. both remotes are on the left hand side. It's not really any more difficult than knowing both remotes' vertical positions (top, middle, and bottom).
