awesome. I was pretty much on the fence with this, but this review may just have changed my mind. Its got that thing that GTA IV, for all its strong storyline and clever nuances, seesm to miss out on: Fun.

I m sorry but now sick and tired as the proverbial parrot at the same old boring comment of 'not as good as Halo 3' I see peppering everywhere!

Its funny only so for long, and even if the point wasnt ever funny but an angry dig at reviewers/EG/Universe for the 'injustice' of awarding Halo 3 full 10 and other games perceived worthy as an equal to full score or better!

Now back to the subject. pleased for SR2 to get a very respectable 9 and I m sure quite a few would prefer this to GTA4 as build up to be more enjoyable and fun. Both have its place and I ll certainly get my hands on this!

Usually I loathe these sandbox-world type games and have never finished a GTA (and didnt get suckered into buying GTA4 despite the massive hype), but something about this game.... I dunno what it is.. possibly the character customisation? really has me wanting.

not too fussed about the graphics as long as the gameplay is sound, the overthetopness and lulz rating is what made me enjoy the first one although hopefully the online is better this time

Sounds like a right laugh and also comes at the pefect time for it to ride the waves of GTA4's success. I imagine many people will be getting a crave again for some free roaming action after the summer interlude.

Well, if there were any reason to upgrade to a high end dual core cpu (i.e. 3.0 ghz)...this is it! Screw console controls with a fps/action game such as this..a mouse/kb setup is the only way to go!

Wooooow... I wasn't expecting Saints Row 2 to get a really good review and 9/10! That's a surprise... but a welcome one regardless.

I loved GTA IV, I believe it's one this year's finest games along with Metal Gear Solid 4, and whether or not Saints Row 2 surpasses it is irrelevant because all I want to know is whether it's fun to play or not. From the reviews I've read it seems that it is and that's all I need to know. The first game was great and very entertaining if a little rough and ragged around the edges so if this sequel is only slightly better then I'll be happy. My pre-order at GAME is already being processed so hopefully I'll be playing this on Thursday... :)

This has been getting suprisingly great reviews and amateur praise everywhere based on the fact that, well, it's really fun.

Shame some snobs have to compare it to other games reviews, they're missing the point entirely.

TBH (while I don't buy into the EG review conspiracy crap) I'm slightly dubious of the glowing review seeing as the first game was so bad but I might try a demo. Problem is though the worst thing about SR1 was the gangsta theme for me, like a chav talking "street" it was truly cringe worthy.

Sounds more fun than GTA4 TBH. I particularly like the 'increasing your territory' thing as that was one of my favourite bits from San Andreas.

As I thought fookin ace. Bring on Friday. I think it is the game I have been most looking forward to this year well maybe this and Fable II. God I love my 360, I want to cover it in pepper and sneeze all over it.

My my, that is a surprise. I had almost written this one off.

Now, I think I'm going to have to give it a try! Sounds fun! :)

That was unexpected... You know, I think I might take a punt on this.

Having re-read the review, I noticed there's a lack of information regarding the single player mode (How long is it? How varied is it? What's the story like? Does it keep you gripped to the end? Are the missions checkpointed? Does your character speak in this game or is he/she still a mute? Etc., etc.).

Also I don't understand the comment about Saints Row 2's graphics looking dated. I thought the first game looked very good (bar the screen tearing and glitches of which the former was addressed by a patch) with a nice clean, colourful and sharp art style and decent animation. In fact, I still do think the game looks good. It's certainly a huge step up in terms of detail from the GTA's of old on the PS2 and Xbox, those are visuals that I would call dated. Saints Row is only two years old after all and if Saints Row 2 only looks the same then my eyes are going to be content. Thankfully there's a V-Sync On option built into the game too which kind of negates the reviewers comment in the first paragraph about the game having tearing! ;)

Ordered this off Tesco.com last night, because of the price.

Quite looking forward to the weekend now after reading this. If Tesco don't honour the deal I might have to go and pick this up full price. Really enjoyed the 1st game!

Right, didn't get involved yesterday but EG seriously... I just pissed myself laughing at this 9 a fricken 9... hahahahahahahahaha.. you have seriously EG lost any semblance of credibility over the last two days. It is clear that the reviewers are either susceptible to a few quid in the back pocket or are seriously just taking the piss. For me it is the last review I read or comment on, I think I will stick to reading Edge and GameTM and look careful at the reviewers... as Dan ‘I love Lego Batman, but not anything actually decent’ and Rob ‘i love shit games, with pop up, texture collisions and pathetic swearing’ are pillocks.

I played the original Saints Row yesterday to get myself ready for this and was anticipating playing about 20 minutes of it just to remind myself of how good it was. I ended up playing for three hours just having a shit load of fun! Whilst I thought GTAIV was a really good game, I had much more fun with Saints Row. I thought EG would give this a 6 or 7 just to please the GTA fans but its good to see they've done a proper review. Can't wait for this

Yay. The game GTA4 should have been, rather than the po-faced effort that it turned out to be.

You can all piss and whine all you want. The review for this game have universally been excellent. Same with LBP etc. It's not as if EG has given something that's been getting a 6 or a 7 in other reviews a 9.

However, I'm very surprised by this. One thing that comes through is just how much fun it is to play. You remember fun? I'm be buying this on Friday. Wasn't on my list at all until about a week ago.

Can't wait to see fanboy reaction when Fable 2 gets a 10. Bring it on!
