Now I win.

"would I really rather be crouched over my laptop"

What's the problem? That's the wanking position.

Poor poor amateur programming. :-(

Far Cry 2 & Crysis will run better than Saints Row 2?

Why even bother with a PC version then?

Right, to all the people claiming that GTAIV didn't have "The fun removed" heres my comment to you.

What did you do once you completed the story?
Escourt friends, play bowling or pool a few times...

GTA:SA was a much better game, not in graphical aspects or in any technical terms at all.
The combat in GTAIV is better as well, as is the story.
The characters are much more defined. etc...etc...etc
So how is GTA:SA better?

Sheer scale...The storyline was about a third of the game.
You had so much to do on it and the BMX was one of the best things!

Yes, GTAIV is a "Rough" technical breakthrough of sorts but it paid a huge price in graphics as well...
Framerate is less than forgiving on X360 and PS3 and on the PC I had it a whole day before I sold it...
I don't care if a patch was just released Rockstar got lazy on the PC version and I'll never touch a GTA on PC again or on consoles for that matter.
If you like real life situations and realistic games fair enough, but to most of us fans of the GTA series we see a huge part of the game is missing...In the form of all the extras...

Much like Metal Gear Solid 4...All the extras missing and more pains in the ass.

Saints Row 2 isn't a technical landmark of any kind other than full co-op.
But...It's just plain fun, Vehicle surfing for crying out loud! ON A PLANE! What other game thought of that?
I was a fan of GTA but I believe they lost the root of the game...It shouldn't be about ultra realistic citys with F*** all to do...
It should be about colour, fun, laughs and most of all...It should leave you with the feeling of a complete experience.

After all, you want a movie like experience? watch a movie...You wanna take your friend bowling? well go bowling...
You wanna smuggle drugs, pimp hookers and kill people in new and amusing ways and not serve several life sentences?
Play Saints Row 2...

*And I'll also add GTAIV and MGS4 did not deserve the high scores they got...GTAIV - 7/10 MGS4 - 5-10*

And to CVG.co.uk and Gamespot and all other gamer sites...STOP GIVING GAMES SUCH HIGH SCORES...
These guys are paid to be critics not advertisers.

Agree with UncleLou on just about everything. I don't entirely understand how people find GTA4 so boring. The realism of the world, the physics, the car handling(which is amazing. The most enjoyable driving in any game ever, for me), the radio stations, internet, TV. There isn't a single game world better realized than Liberty City. I find that realism more fun and appealing than business-as-usual Saints Row.

That argument has been trotted about how many times now? You're like "that guy" who tells people to learn real guitar and not play Guitar Hero. I want a cinematic experience that I play, therefore I want GTA4.

I've had loads more fun on SR2 than on GTAIV. In fact GTAIV hasn't been in my disc tray since the end credits rolled, whereas I'm on my second run through SR2. It's pretty criminally underrated IMHO and all that fawning over GTAIV just seems pointless when you compare how much more fun SR2 is. I hope GTA5 is a return to Vice City and the elements that made the GTA games fun.

I wouldn't touch the PC version of SR2 though unless they patch it, it's a total disaster. It doesn't even support Xbox 360 pads through XInput like good console conversions do (I prefer joypads when playing on my laptop).

Oh dear, I so hope not. I thought VC was the weakest of the whole bunch. :)

I see some kind of pattern evolving, though. The "GTA IV lacks fun" crowd seem to be the people who want to continue playing after the story has ended, whereas I'll happily shelf the game once I've spent 40 hours on the storyline.

Not for me. It only took me an hour and a bit to work out that GTA4 was a snorefest.

GTA4 was poorly programmed and judging by the comments and the review so has Saints Row 2.

It seems like many lazy PC porters have taken the Microsoft Mentality and expect advances in hardware to pick up the slack in inefficient code, thus no wonder we get so many complaints in the "PC vs console" rants about continuous upgrade cycles when devs simply ctrl-c ctrl-v code from consoles to the PC (note that was an exaggeration :) but you get the idea)

The Orange Box games and Fallout 3 are both technically excellent for their time, max detail on an 8600GTS, which also happens to be my bottleneck i think.

I for one love to play on my computer at my desk at home. In fact I got a complete new machine in November incl. a kickass 22" TFT screen. I usually buy a new rig every 4-5 years and during its lifespan I might replace the graphics card and the processor.
Maybe a bit more expensive than consoles but it's my free time so it's my money worth.
I lack a decent tv for the new console generation anyways since I hardly can be arsed to watch the crap on tv these days. I usually watch when I visit my parents and am not out with friends and try to catch some news sometimes but that's it.
A new tv set would cost me a lot of money for something I wouldn't use besides for the must-have exclusives (the few).

PC Gaming fail once again. I just bought Fallout 3 for the PC, silly me should have bought the 360 version, then at least I wouldn't have to hack ini files and stuff just to stop it locking up.

Looks like PC gaming is just getting less and less appealing.
