Saint Row 2 to get PC offering
It can't refuse, brrap.
THQ has decided to add a PC version to gangland sequel Saints Row 2.
It's set to be released at the same time as its fellow 360 and PS3 inmates, according to GameSpot, which were recently delayed from August to 17th October.
The game was pushed back to allow more polish as well as give the publisher a chance to make some more posters and telly adverts. It also moves it away from the downloadable episodes for the Xbox 360 version of established rival Grand Theft Auto IV.
Saints Row 2 brings with it online co-op, more customisation options, a wider array of vehicles including ones in the air, better graphics and a much darker storyline.
Developer Volition has said it wouldn't launch this year if it didn't think it could compete with GTA IV. Pop over to our Saints Row 2 preview to see how it's shaping up.

Ah Volition, I hope this doesn't suck.

I wish them the best of luck tho; hope to see them on the flip side or whatever the americans are saying. Oh and co-op is definately flavour of the month, smart move for Saint's.

And what comes to co-op gaming. I hope it's not just a passing trend, because it's so much fun.

I tend to disagree... it looks like a load of people in suits got together and made a horrible 'gangsta' themed game. It looks derivative and dull and really misses the point of what makes GTA great.

I also don't think it's aiming for what made GTA great, it obviously took a lot of inspiration from there but the sequel is definitely branching off with something different, especially now that we've seen how much GTA IV was trying to focus on realism, Saints Row 2 is doing the exact opposite. It's going for hilarious, over the top, fun. And if being able to pile driver people off buildings, use shock paddles as weapons, and throw people infront of trains doesn't show that, I don't know what will.
And yes, everything lately has been announced to support co-op, but in all fairness, we've known Saints Row 2 supports full co-op through out the entire campaign, back when the game was first announced last year. I don't see how it could ever be a bad thing in a game like this anyway, it just seems like some of you guys are grabbing at straws, for reasons to complain about this game

It always felt far more sandbox than the GTA series, multiple storylines and missions to do. You were never stuck on a certain mission line, if you found it boring or too hard you could just do another one. At the end of the day a lot of people still play GTA for the carnage you can cause, and in that regard SR was far more fun- Fans of Crackdown must know what I mean!!

Having said that though, I found myself completely bored of GTA by the second island, I just do not care about playing the missions (perhaps because its just more of the same). Loading the game up just to muck around in the city and play around in multiplayer is worth purchase alone though.
How Saints Row will stand any chance of competing against GTA (quality wise) I do not know...

yeah because GTA's satire is REALLY subtle and original, the 'cops shoot people and get medals' or 'conservative talk show hosts are silly' or 'durr hurr i'm a parent and i hate them videogames' jokes have been hammered into your skull since GTA3.
that said it is usually funny, but most of that is coming from Lars or the radio Judge
SR2 will undoubtedly be worse than GTA4 on most if not all levels, but it will probably be a decent enough game, like the original
