I didn't even realise this was out. Console versions apparently slipped until Feb 09?

'Sacred 2 is the best Diablo clone since Titan Quest '

That's like saying AIDS is the best disease since Polio. Titan Quest was TERRIBLE.

Good review, pretty much agree with your points, but I'd score it lower.

""Sacred 2 is the best Diablo clone since Titan Quest and its excellent expansion, Immortal Throne, and while the compulsion to play is there"

It might be the best since Titan Quest, but it's not anywhere near TQ. Looks significantly worse technically and artistically, awful camera, even more awful draw distance, the hack and slash isn't as satisfying, the level/world design is hopelessly inferior, and the itemisation is a joke compared to TQ. And the speical mounts are annoying. What's nice is the skill and combo system.

I finished TQ several times with different characters, but I stopped playing Sacred 2 half-way through. :-/

What's this madness. It was absolutely fantastic, to a point where I am not sure D3 will be better.

I too thought Titan Quest was "exquisite". Lost many, many hours playing through it co-op. Games like this are perfect for LANs etc, shame there are so few that do it well (I can think of, say, three - Diablo 2 and Titan Quest being the obvious ones! Dungeon Siege was also amazing fun multiplayer but everyone here seems to hate that game, gallingly).

So even getting Rob in to do some voices can't save your review score eh? ;)

EDIT: "The voice-acting and dialogue don't help matters"

you partly have yourselves (well rob) to blame! ;)

hmmm reads like a 7 to me

Still have high hopes for the 360 version as my PC would die with D3 running, hopefully the bugs will be ironed out.

Also the fan reviews are more genrous, if you like loot crawls its more like an 8 it seems

Ostensibly it's your average fantasy world but it runs on something called T-Energy

Is there some German cultural thing that makes putting "T-" in front of a normal word appear cool or unusual?

When I downloaded the demo of this I spent more time laughing at the voice acting on the character selection screen and intro than I did playing it. The UI confused and it was impossible to get a camera angle that was just right.

It's probably like how we like to put X in front of everything over here... even boxes.

Waiting for the console version too. Hopefully that will have less bugs and split-screen co-op, although I have read conflicting reports about that being ditched :(

Definitely not, especially in Germany. If anything, the T makes something sound stupid. Like T-Com, T-Online, T-Spots, T-Mobile, etc.
The only thing that gets better by adding a T, is the virus and maybe that one Dinosaur.

I am also not sure that calling the gamedesign to be a "clone" to an eight year old game is really a merit badge.

Careful, criticising unclimbable rocks is a touchy subject around these here parts!

I'm hoping for the opposite.

I got this and stopped playing after week. I'm a compulsive loot collector, but the masses of item attributes in this game does NOT make it more fun or compulsive.
