Sacred 2 for PS3 and 360 in June News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

17 April, 2009

Deep Silver plans to release Sacred 2 for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 5th June.

The console versions have been a long time coming; Sacred 2 launched on PC late last year. And since then there have been plenty of updates - some fixing bugs while others added new content and features.

Deep Silver told Eurogamer this afternoon that these "should" all be included on the PS3 and Xbox 360 retail discs. Future patches will apparently be added through routine title updates.

Sacred 2 is a bread-and-butter fantasy action-RPG that has lots of loot, lots of abilities and lots of baddies. A Diablo clone, in other words. And probably the best example of one since Titan Quest.

The PS3 and 360 conversions will be given no demo, sadly, as Deep Silver told us this "wouldn't benefit" and may even harm people's perception of the game.

Look out for our console review closer to June, or absorb our Sacred 2 PC review now for an idea of what to expect.

Looking forward to this bad boy.

Is there any word on co-op, local or otherwise?

Eh, I kinda thought the release of a demo was inevitable. Guess not.

Apparently there's gonna be local 2 player co-op, 4 online. As long as it controls okay this could be a definite buy :)

Or in other words " you might realise its shit and feel dissapointed that you wasted £39.99 on such a crap game "

It's not really crap. It kept me going to the end at least, on the PC. Good graphics and a reasonably interesting story, combined with the phat l00t and a pretty balanced character development system.

So no one else concerned the impression that "future patches will apparently be added through routine title updates" gives?

What, that games require patching? Not really.

Would be interested to see how the console versions review, if they've been patched up etc.

All those delays for a PC to console port remind me of the "great" Two Worlds experiment... I foresee huge frame rate issues, an undecipherable interface, glitches the size of a building, and some obscure german black metal band for the background soundtrack. It's a buy!

If America get this game a month ahead of the UK, we'll know how bad the bugs are - plus have a host of user reviews to go through - before we purchase it. I don't mind that - let the colonies test it out for us, I say!

Regarding the demo, I understand what they mean about it being a bad thing to release one. Just got to remember what happened after people played the Resident Evil 5 demo. It made a great game look crap.

And no doubt all the leftie pricks like Dan Whitehead will say killing Dark Elves is too reminiscent of Rodney King.

Loot crawlers are an acquired taste, however its funny how people are comparing it unfavorably to Diablo 3 which won't even be out for another year. It's only other competition is Titan Quest (PC only) and maybe Too Human, but this game is utterly massive.

Edge gave the PC version 7, which imho makes this a good buy IF you like loot crawls.

There may not be a demo, but it looks as if there's a Collector's Edition, with a Seraphim character statue and a big map - check Amazon! :o

There's a demo available on STEAM. All the video I've seen of the PS3 version looks fine, performance wise.
