Xevious will be pleased.

Microsoft has revealed that Rush 'n Attack and Xevious will be this Wednesday's Xbox Live Arcade offerings.

Rush 'n Attack, better know to many as Green Beret, is a 2D side scroller from Konami that challenges you with freeing prisoners of war from four stages, each more difficult than the other. You'll be able to tackle it alone or cooperatively with a friend, using your trusty knife and an explosive selection of gunnery. The Speccy version was brilliant in its day, eh old 'uns?

Xevious, on the other hand, is a vertical scrolling shooter from Namco that pits you up against the Andor Genesis mother ship and supercomputer GAMP. An arcade gem in its day (some 25 years ago now) you can be certain that it will be a faithful recreation.

Both games have been given the 2007 heave-ho, gaining the usual HD treatment, leaderboard integration, and the all important 200 achievement points. Both games will be available for 400 Microsoft Points, which translates to 3.40 of Her Majesty's gold, or 4.80 in Euro pop.

Man I loved that game back in the day. *sniff*

Is it too much to ask for Quazatron too? Now, *that* was a game (yes I know where it was "influenced" from c64 fans, but it was *Better*. no really, it WAS).

I'd so totally buy an updated version of Xevious with enhanced graphics and sound. But it's those bumfaces Namco, so we'll just get a lazy-arsed straight port of the original. Bah.

As long as on rush n attack you get to kill dogs. I would pay small amounts of money to kill dogs. Or am I getting mixed up with saboteur?

Ooo Saboteur, that was great....or at least I think I remember it being great.

Retro gaming is fun for a short blast but the rose tinted glasses have stopped working. Shame

Green Beret had dog killing too I think. And as MGG noted, it was unthinkably difficult. 4 levels was more than enough!

Aside: Saboteur was great, one of the games I ever completed, and one of the very few I've completed more than once.

Thanks for the dog replies. I remember the brick throwing in saboteur now, they sort of arced down straight into the dogs faces. I think in green beret you could stab sheep aswell. In fact didn't you get attacked by flocks of sheep at the end of the level and have to stab them all to death?

Anyone know of any other good dog/sheep murdering games?
