Shame really.
I've personally only just got into HG: London and I'm really enjoying it. It's a nice little loot-em-up.
Although I've still no idea how the MMORPG thing is supposed to work

Nice to hear his side of the story. I was surprised at the aggressiveness of some of the comments levelled towards him when his company fell apart, since he's always sounded like a nice guy in interviews. They're not the first indie to overreach on their first project.

I really like Hellgate, but have only played it singleplayer. I think if they'd stayed away from the MMO thing and just gone for the singleplayer and small scale multiplayer (like Diablo) and concentrated the extra effort on how the game played, it could have been a big success.

Ah well, whatever happens with the online part, at least I'll still have my Summoner and his little army of demon beaties.

I think when he said he had to liquidate 401(k)s to pay people's salaries, it means he had to liquidate pension contributions.

Rather than meaning he had to liquidate 400k in assets.

I assume so anyway.

He's a real top bloke... a proper genuine guy. I wish you well, Bill, keep it up with with WarCraft Orc sound effects too - you never know when you might need 'em.

Well, this does sound pretty heartbreaking. I see how this could make for a good a book or a TV documentary about the VG industry...
