I'm a decent real table tennis player, so this sounds interesting. But I wonder just how much fun it can be in single-player. Actually, I wonder how many future Wii games will be fun in single-player. Sigh. Let's hope developers don't forget about us lone wolves.
Oh well, if the physics and movements are accurate enough, it might be a good way to practice. |

I always find it odd emulating a sport that's so cheap and simple to play for real.
Eh? I don't have a table tennis table, and even if I had, I'd have no room to put it anywhere where I live... Also, I'd need another person here to play against (unless I do the Forrest Gump thing). So this'd be a lot more accessible. |

I loved the 360 original and the concept would work extremely well on the Wii as proven by Wii Sports tennis but...
... without sounding too negative, it's yet another port and, personally, I'd rather have had a proper tennis game, say, Mario Tennis or even Virtua Tennis 3 (even though the latter would obviously be a port!). |

Allow me to be a terrible Wii skeptic and raise issues around physics, graphics, collission detec, imprecise wii controls etc etc which all dilute what made this game great in the first place.
Also, 3 cheers for Sid Nice for lowering the tone in one swift stroke (pun intended). |

It starts off this way but before you know it youve stabbed someone and your mums in NOTW all because you thought it would be cheaper and simpler than playing manhunt. Too much? |

I presume this game will use the Nunchuk's analogue stick for movement as well or is that going to be automated a la Wii Sports Tennis? If it's automated then it would surely make the game even easier to play than it was originally and less skillful? And if it uses the Nunchuk then that would make two-player matches more expensive as you'd have to purchase another (I only have one as most multiplayer games only use the Wiimote).

I have to say that anyone who says this is 'Just another port' is really missing the whole point surely? If there's ever a game that was a natural fit for the Wii controller and could actually be a better game because of it, this is it.

I've got a table tennis myself, but none of my friends are really that good and I only play my best against good people, be interesting to see how this matches up.
Would be nice to see all the features like online play remain on the game as well, the graphics will also be interesting to compare. |

B..b..but Rockstar Table Tennis uses the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE)... just like GTA IV... OMG!!!! GTA IV on the Wii!!!! ;-) |

needs to be precise, wii-sports tennis was rubbish and rather random in control.
You were just shit at it. Once you master it you can put a ball anywhere on the court. |

Agree with secombe - lots to get into with Wii Sports Tennis, a bit of practice and a whole range of shots open up - certainly is not a random thing. Very good little game overall, I just wish they had extended the number of games per set for a bit more of a gruelling challenge.

...BUT MAKE SURE IT'S ONLINE, ROCKSTAR!
Potentially a perfect fit for the Wii. Hopefully with different control configs so anyone without a 2nd nunchuk can play, but those with them can restrict online games to people with the same config if they so wish. Make it happen, Rockstar. Someone tell Codemasters to get started on Brian Lara Cricket, and include support for ALL controllers: Gamecube, classic, Wii'mote / nunchuk. |
