An updated Alien Breed on XBLA/PSN would be EXCELLENT.

Edit: or WiiWare, come to think of it. Or even Steam!

Yeah, I have to say from the go on the trial that I had earlier, I completly agree!

I was looking forward to this game, but it's a massive let down. The art style is ugly, the annoying cut scenes that constantly pop up and voice overs are dreadful, the scrolling screen is annoying, the levelling system is overly complicated and thus a chore.

Shame, I thought this would be great :(

Shadowgrounds: Survivor is a pretty decent modern top down shooter. Still i think the Loaded is my favourite of all time.

Theres a few modern fan made Alien Breed remakes out there that are decent too.

Thanks for the suggestions... Any PS3/360 games tho? I got rid of my PS2, although I've got me N64 lying about somewhere... A Wii may be on the cards if we can make enough space in the living room!

I think PSN has got a copy of Gauntlet, but I really wanted a slightly more modern iteration, like the N64 version which was quite cool I thought.

Chaos Engine and Alien Breed on the Amiga, good times. Be good to see them being revitalised.

Sorry Zuljin, I live in the yesteryear of gaming where cartridges and floppy disks were king and a machine was judged by the numbers of colours it could display at once.

I'm not really sure why I'm here to be honest.

I don't know any 'modern' games. Gauntlet on the N64 was supposed to be quite good but I never played it.

Dungeons and Dragons is from 1996, no idea how much moral issues you have with pirating an arcade game that you won't find anywhere.

Shucks. I'm living with two girls that are interested in games, but not in anything too hardcore. I think if I introduce them to stuff like Gears or COD I may put them off forever.

I'm gonna have to get that frikkin Wii now aren't I?

Wasn't the original card game based around starship combat? Why not try to replicate the original game rather than a pointless top-down shooter?

the shooting style and weapons reminded me of SMASH TV that was ok but shit graphics
if they did a new SMASH TV with graphics like Rocketmen it would be pretty good
Rocketmen however is total crap!

Indeed... XBLA could use a space turn based shooter IMHO :)

Deep within the confines,
Down dark and steely corridors,
An eery light is flashing,
But not a sound can be heard.

Something's cooking alright. It's been a while.

Come on Spadge - Admit to the slightest hint of Alien Breed on XBLA and make us all very happy people indeed. Super Frog & Assassin would be nice too ;-) The best damn platformers on the Amiga by far.

Just tried the demo. Aaaannd delete.

Epic.
Fail.

It's almost worth the download just to shake your head and wonder what the bl**dy hell they were thinking. It's truly awful. Dan doesn't mention that the timed weapons last, oh about 3 seconds - seriously in need of nasal delivery spray. And even if you see a secondary objective in advance, the zillion bad guy bullets mean that even if you *try* to get to it, you'll get nailed (and if you move to avoid the bullets, the screen will have scrolled on too far).

Gauntlet. Flash Gordon style. Add shiny HD graphics and net multiplay. Minimum 7/10 sorted. How could you f**k it up???

A version of Alien Breed on live please!

There was an Alien Breed '05 (or whatever it was called) was in progress using Snowblind's "Champions of Norrath" Engine, but it was shelved, due to no publisher.
