Rock Band social website plan

Blogs, ads, band pages, more.

Rock Band's US release will be supported by a community minded relaunch for the game's official website - www.rockband.com - to help encourage the game's early buyers to play together.

Speaking to GameSpot, developer Harmonix explained that the website would include leaderboards, personalised band pages, blogs, forums and a classified ads section so Lennons can find their McCartneys.

The news comes as the developer reveals that it has moved up the game's release date by three days so that everyone can get hold of it in time for the US Thanksgiving holiday. PS3 and 360 versions will now hit on 20th November across the pond.

The game isn't due out here until early 2008, sadly, but those of you with big wallets and PS3s (actually, one necessitates the other anyway) can always consider the import option thanks to the PS3's region-free Blu-ray game playback.

That's if you're happy to stump up hefty import duties and delivery fees, of course - at least at launch, the only bundles available will be the USD 169.99 packages including drums, microphone and lead and bass guitars.

    I want this now.

    Also, lead and bass guitars? I thought only 1 guitar was in the package?

    Yep, we'll have to stump up for PS3 guitar hero as well to fulfill our pre-christmas Rock Band dreams.

    But fulfill them we shall!

    Anyone know why there is such a delay for us?

    Early 08?

    Wankers. Looks like I'll just get GH3 then.

    Getting it on import for Xmas! The best time to get a game like this actually and it's stupid that it's been delayed till new year in Europe!

    The delay was because they couldn't make enough for each region by November btw!

    What I want to know is can you play with two guitars co-op etc? Or must you have a seperate instrument to play this. Cos me and my mate only want to play with the guitar.

    Social websites: AARGH.

    Player A: I made this really cool riff and I have posted it on your FUN WALL
    Player B: Yeah? Let me check it out
    (Minutes later)
    Player B: It is only the notation - I thought there'd be audio
    Player A: Well when I replay it I will stream it down to your XBox
    Player B: When will you update your picture? I have updated mine with the bigger boobs
    Player A: I will use my Vampire application to bite them! I will use the Poke application to POKE them!
    Player B: Hey what about the Rock Band stuff you were doing? Am I still in the band?
    Player A: Oh, that - let me check. You know, I am too busy biting and poking and repsonding to bites and pokes and hugs. Check with me tomorrow.

    @tonynibbles

    Where'd you choose to preorder from and why?

    I'm still trying to figure out the best place.

    "hat's if you're happy to stump up hefty import duties and delivery fees"

    does it mean that it can be imported in Europe? Will it work outside the US? (thinking in Spain)

    Import duties?

    What's the maximum potential cost if you import?

    I want it NOW.

    @EG:

    "including drums, microphone and lead and bass guitars."

    Isn't it just one guitar that can be used as either of the two? o_O

    @myre - and others:
    I've ordered from gamestop.com, £102 inc 5 days delivery. VAT and customs to be added on, so you're hopefully looking around £140 max.
    Had card auth problems with gamestop.com so used Barnes and Noble - bn.com - instead, they use Gamestop but handle the payment and haven't complained yet.

    I believe tonynibbles has done the same.

    Nobody has yet confirmed that the GH3 guitar works with RB on the PS3. IGN did a 'guitar compatibility' article - they say that it does work but it's unclear whether they are talking about the PS3 or 360 versions.
    We don't know if the PS3 RB guitar will work on GH3 (IGN didn't test that...), so to have two player GH3 you might need to buy two GH3 guitars anyway.
