Rock Band gets someone evicted

Well, being noisy does.

Harmonix may be facing complaints about problems with the quality of Rock Band's initial guitar peripherals and the PS3 version not working with Guitar Hero accessories, but they can't really be blamed for this one: one lucky Rock Band forumite claims he's being playing the game so much he's actually getting evicted.

"We technically didn't get evicted...yet. But we have ten days to get out before we do get evicted," 'luminary_pants' explains in a post (spotted on Kotaku) proudly displaying a "10 Day Compliance Notice". "Residents of the Grand Oaks Apartment Home community have complained of loud noise disturbances before and after the hours of 10:00pm," it says.

Although the notice claims that it is "not an eviction notice" (and indeed claims they can get out of it by simply not being obnoxiously loud), Mr Pants later claims he has until 1st December to bugger off. "You have some asshole neighbours," a note of sympathy from 'SoberScott' reads. "My suggestion: Crank it to 11 for the next 10 days."

Of course, dobbing in your neighbours for being loud is a bit wimpy. What we suggest is going upstairs in your dressing gown at 2am, knocking on the door and then shouting "SHUT THE **** UP OR I'LL BURN YOU ALL ALIVE". There's no way out of my building if your front door's on fire, I reckon. Think about that, "Ben".

    I think I was in my last apartment 2 days before the old bat downstairs complained about my real electric guitar. Ironically I still have my guitar and she is pushing up daisies somewhere.

    I like your fire idea.

    Nice to see people encouraging antisocial behaviour, I bet 'SoberScott' wouldn't like me playing Rock Band at 3am with only a slim wall between us. Escpecially if he had to, for example, get up at six o'fucking clock :(

    I agree, he's been acting like a selfish c*nt and deserves what he gets. Being proud of it, like its all "rock and roll", is just sad beyond belief.

    The guy already settled it with his landlord (or somesuch). A neighbor was being over-sensitive.

    God I hate neighbors. We've had a case where one of our neighbors used to come in the middle of the night - he had an evening shift at his job. He was being very considerate and we never heard a whisper from his apartment. He wore slippers and only used the TV and stereos with headphones. Regardless, one of the other neighbors complained so much that he was worried he was being a real dick about his manners. I guess the complainer just didn't like the fact that someone didn't live nine to five (and took a cab back home every night).

    His neighbours should be happy it's just rockband! An ex-girlfriend of mine had problems with her neighbour because she was a screamer (oh Yeah!!)

    Well she had an effing cuckoo clock that drove me nuts, but you didnt see me going down to tell her to shut it off. I did after she complained about my guitar (played through my computer's speakers not my real amp)...did she do anything about he clock? Did she buggery.

    How does settling it with his landlord make any difference? "Yeah, its fine" says landlord "keep your neighbours awake if you want, thats fine with me".

    As for some highly specific anecdotal experience where some neighbour somewhere was perhaps being a bit weird over someone elses slipper wearing "manners"..... on the basis of that you say "God I hate neighbors"?

    Do you also hate shoelaces because you tripped over some once?


    Properly noisy neighbours, not ones that are deemed noisy by crazy people because their pet bat can hear said neighbour doing up the zip on their slippers, but properly noisy neighbours are inconsiderate c*nts who should have the error of their ways beaten into their head with a broken and splinter ridden cricket bat. Not being able to sleep because your neighbours make too much noise late at night can range from bloody annoying (for someone like me) to life destroying (for a frail pensioner). If anyone acted that way next door to my parents no one would be lodging complaints or getting evicted or "settling things with their landlord". They would be having chat with me and my failed career as a professional cricketer*.

    So there.


    * I never had a career as a cricketer, failed or otherwise. I would probably have to substitute a steering lock for said cricket bat (though even that would involve a trip to Halfords).

    In that case Fab4, you are justified in being as noisy as you like. I hate neighbours, I wish they'd fuck off. Well half of them anyway, neighbours to my left are good, neighbours to my right are a bunch of clowns. Their fucking cat keeps climbing on my BMW, I'm going to kill it once I catch it.
