That review is ok, but the reviewer is completely off the mark regarding the vocals. His/her (Tracy - I'm going to assume she from now on) attitude is summed up by the quote "Instead of seizing the potential for compelling vocal play with the built-in microphone on iPhone".
Really? She thinks that singing out loud into your phone would be considered "compelling" by any significant number of iPhone owners? I couldn't disagree more strongly.
Now the actual implementation they chose for the singing mechanic may not be very good (I don't know either way), but I think the decision to not require the player to sing was absolutely the right one.
Its a shame that the reviewer keeps harping on about the lame vocals, as it spoils the tone of an otherwise good review, and suggests the reviewer doesn't really understand the portable market.

I've been playing Rock Band Unplugged on the PSP recently, and that is top banana. Essentially Amplitude in a posh new frock, but very entertaining all the same.

4 copies of the game + 4 iPod Touchs/iPhones = over £800 worth just too play Rock Band!
@jim1975 - 'great timing for apple to allow in app purchases the same week as Rock Band iphone comes out.'
They've always allowed in-app purchases for paid-for apps. They just extended this too the free apps.

Is the smiley on the end your way of saying "I know this statement is nonsense"?

I agree about the review being off about vocals. I've been playing Rock Band on the iPhone and vocals basically work like another instrument, it's not perfect but who wants to hear people singing into their iPhones? At least this way 4 people can play the game on the train with headphones and no-one would hear a sound.

Tracy's done tonnes of iPhone reviews before (he's that section's review editor IIRC) although I'd agree he focused on the wrong complaint this time around.

I'm sure he has plenty of experience, which is what makes the comments all the more of a shame in this case. They "suggest" a lack of knowledge, that is in fact present. Anyway, its not a big deal, so I shall stop harping on about it.

Either it didn't install correctly or it's in urgent need of a patch.
