Resistance maps, more on PSN News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

30 November, 2007

Follow us into the magical land of the PlayStation Store and you should see a whole bag full of new treats, including new maps for Resistance, new cars for MotorStorm, new content for Sonic and even a couple of PSone games to play on your PS3 or PSP.

Tom seems to be most excited by the addition of Destruction Derby (GBP 3.49) to the line-up of PSone games available for PS3 and PSP. Kula World (also GBP 3.49) is the other one.

Those are also available from the new PC-based PSP Store (games with dual compatibility can be downloaded from either location irrespective of where you pay for them).

Overflowing next from the sack of snacks is a multiplayer demo for TimeShift, the shooter where you can do all sorts of things to clocks to help you kill your enemies.

Then there is oodles of added content for existing games. First are fresh missions, boss and team attacks for Sonic at GBP 1.99 a squeeze, followed by the new maps Bracknell and Axbridge for Resistance: Fall of Man. But it wouldn't be complete without a pair of new vehicles for MotorStorm, so new Samurai and Quickfoot things are now available to cavort around in.

Elsewhere you can enjoy some trailers for Uncharted, Pain, Smackdown vs RAW 2008, Blazing Angels 2 and Assassin's Creed.

Wipeout, Destruction Derby... next RidgeRacer, so by that reckoning it'll be three years before we get Gran Turismo/MGS

Would downloaded European PS1 titles work on an American PS3, or are they region locked like the disc versions?

Warhawk (both download and disk versions) is not region locked... but locked to the PSN account from which it's bought.

Missed a trick with Kula World, that goes for a small fortune on ebay so I hear.

I used to love Destruction Derby but I'm scared my rose tinted glasses will make me buy this and it will look like crud.

It's 3 quid for the 2 Resistance maps, quite a big Download as well. Not sayng size should mean it's worth the money of course.

US gets Pain - boo! me want

At a time where COD 4 totally eclipses Resistance in terms of online FPS play, it's a really smart move to put out *2* new maps for *4.50 Euros*. Brilliant.

@tobsen - Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but it's a good reason for people to get back into the game when you release new maps.

Have ya seen the new maps, they're so beautiful. ;_;

Not buying the new maps till they properly intergrate the first batch, they barely pop up in large groups, I've only played the 8 player configurations of them. :/

I think we need a *proper* Kula World review. Definitely one of the most inspired, unusual and underrated puzzlers ever.

Kula World was one of the most unusual games of that generation. Absolutely mind-bending nausea unducing stuff. Loved it. It's a cert for my PSP.

Hmm, so when's the GH3 song packs due out?

I really hate the PSN Store, Sony need to take a universal approach like Microsoft do with Live, because it really sucks quite badly.

I mean, come on, extra Sonic content? Did anybody actually buy it on PS3? o_O
