As good as Gears of War 2 and LittleBigPlanet though. Obviously "people" (I use that term loosely) will see a 9/10 as a fail.

How the hell can you check the score then read the review? The text matters more than that arbitrary number pinned at the bottom, Shirley?

very surprised this got 9 - the first game was shit IMO
too many better games to play to warrant buying this, I'll pick it up in a years time when its £4.99 |

Excellent. Having seen this at the Expo it looked a real step up from the original and a return to form for Insomniac. Really do wish I had a PS3 to play it on!

There is plenty too keep people occupied on the sub £200 consoles, the PS3 at £300 before games and accessories is still an unnecessary luxury if you have a Xbox 360, I mean its not as though Xbox 360 doesn't have some top shooters coming its way is there? Gears2, COD5, Left for dead, Dead Space, etc |

Completely agree, from MGS onwards I'm 100% converted. Not sure if I could could live without my 360 just yet, but not sure I could live without my PS3 either now! Still PS2less (bastards!) but worth the money now IMO (and about bloody time too!). / Goes back to LBP

Great review and by Dan Whitehead too, one of my favourite EG writers because I find his reviews trustworthy and usually spot on! :)
No mention of the A.I. focusing on only you though that was mentioned in a couple of other reviews I've read - it's not noticeable then? How good is the A.I. overall, is it worse or better than other games in the genre? |

Not as good as the 360 version of Fallout 3 you mean. The PS3 version is not as good sadly. I knew R2 was going to be great. And i love the fact that it did turn out to be this good. The best exclusive action game for the PS3 for sure. |

Didn't Uncharted come in at about 10 hours play? It took me months to finish that game off. Not via excessive difficulty or anything, but just because I can sit all evening and weekends just soaking up games. Nothing wrong with something coming in at 10 hours.
Thankfully I can do lunchtime gaming on my laptop or I'd never get through anything like Mass Effect or Fallout 3. |

Genuinely surprised. Insomniac have obviously worked hard to improve on the first and it seems to have paid off. Played a bit of the beta and it was great fun but looking forward more to the SP. Dan, do the Cloven make an appearance in the sequel or are they mysteriously absent yet again?

Most surprising thing about this review is the high score. Oh, teh bias! As Beano continues to point out EG's reviews have been shockingly inconsistent. I'll hold out for Edge's review. They ripped it apart in their last preview. Widge, do want some salt with that PSP?!! ;o) |

Considering that both Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War took me less than eight hours to complete, I'd say a ten hour campaign is decent, particularly if the first game is anything to go by as that was a very nice length IMO. I certainly didn't feel shortcharged like with Gears for example. Usually I can add 30-40% to that figure too for me to finish a game! :)
