That looks like it is set in the (original) RE mansion with worse graphics than the REmake. It also looks like a gun survivor game so far too.

At least we have Resident Evil 5 to look forward to.

Agreed, dadrester, it actually looks pretty good to me too. Except that extreme zombie closeup.

And it looks worse than the REmake because it's fully 3D whereas the backgrounds in the remake were prerendered...

"Hello, jaggy monstrosities.."

It's quite possible that it will look a hell of a lot better in motion, as it is, I think they're promising.

"Another ugly looking game for the wii. and resi 4 looking identical to the cube version as well, with some PS2 content thrown in and tacked on wii controls. :( i have said it before, wii dead in a year."

That's purely cynical commentary, no evidence to back it up yet, once people have seen it in motion we will be able to make proper judgments, standard-def screens look bad on web screenshots, of course they do, and as for the controls: have you played it? Oh, you haven't? Well then, don't be judgmental.

Cynical? Like Capcom's FOURTH REMAKE of Resident Evil 1?

As for evidence I present the Gun Survivor titles to the jury and weep.

That actually looks pretty impressive, the way they managed to recreate the incredibly detailed pre-rendered environments out of REmake and 0 in 3D. And check out that scorpion, that looks pretty nextgen to me.

That said... I'm still extremely bitter about this not being a proper RE. :( I hope it's not done by the same team that created Dead Aim... which was a fucking abomination.

It deserves to die but let's be honest the public are pretty thick and alot of people seemingly like simplistic, gimmicky games.

The thing we all have to worry about is that the wii doesn't kill proper gaming with it's cheap to make, low tech crappy titles.

Why spend millions making proper games when u can bang out a wii sports for peanuts and mugs will buy it.

The 360 and PS3 are machines for gamers the Wii is a toy for people who don't really like proper games.

Amazing how nintendo fangirls now seem to think it's great to be populist when in the last generation they spent all their time looking down their noses at Xbox and PS2 owners.

if they're having FUN then what makes them mugs?

surely the mugs are the ones which arent enjoying the games they're buying so much that they feel the need to come into a every thread for a machine they dont own and slag it off?

"The 360 and PS3 are machines for gamers the Wii is a toy for people who don't really like proper games."

Explain to me what makes a "proper" game?

Do you mean "hard core" games liked only by nerds who post on forums? I consider mario/metroid/smash bros/bat wars to all be "hard core" games which i'll probably enjoy a lot (being a nerd who posts on a forum)

ALL the consoles are GAMES machines, thus by definition they are toys to be enjoyed. If you arent enjoying the toy you've bought (which i can only presume you arent if you feel the need to go "oh nooo.. another machine is selling better than mine, i better go into a thread and tell people it's crap.. that'll make people stop buying it"), then maybe you should think twice about your purchases in future? Maybe buy the one which you'll enjoy, then you wont have this problem.

Is tetris not considered a "proepr" game in your book because mainstream gamers like it?

So on the other hand, hideously expensive projects that run into tens of millions of US Dollars are going to sustain the industry? Come off it, 360 and PS3 will be just as guilty of cheap and cheerful cash-in projects as any other console. Cheap-to-produce games can be just as technically rich and rewarding as a project that costs a fortune to put together, it's not about the money - it's about how the game is designed and made. A big budget cannot save a shit game, after all, and we've seen this case proven many times over in gaming.

The 360 and PS3 are machines for gamers the Wii is a toy for people who don't really like proper games.

As said, aren't all consoles "toys" per se? They're all designed to entertain, just because one system happens to be cheaper doesn't make it any less technically a machine. My PC altogether cost me a good grand or more, but I don't look down at people with £500 PC's and say that theirs are merely toys. It's still a machine that's capable of doing what its user wants.

Amazing how nintendo fangirls now seem to think it's great to be populist when in the last generation they spent all their time looking down their noses at Xbox and PS2 owners.

Just like how Sony and X-Box fangirls now look down their noses at the Wii now, dismissing it as a toy, claiming it'll be the death of the market, that it'll encourage cheap knock-off games, that total domination of a market can cripple gaming as we know it and we'll never get any great titles... oh wait, didn't we do this last generation with the PS2? My, how the tables turn. And guess what? It didn't happen then.

Fair play to Nintendo and their machine. As for this game, as I said, if there is any remote chance buying this will send a message to Capcom to remake RE2 and RE3 for its fans... then I'll buy it. I'll buy whatever they put out until they catagorically state they won't do it...

Which they won't, of course, because it's what keeps FF fans buying the FF games... hoping, praying desperately that one day, their faith and loyalty will bring about the fables FF7 remake...

They could've used 2d sprites and I would still buy this. By NES doesn't work properly and I don't have Hogans Alley anyway and I can't find Duck Hunt either.

I'll just echo what Smelly and Kami said. *Echoes*.

360/PS3 fanboys on EG are pure comedy gold. I suppose the fact my PC cost a grand and can do stuff other than games omg means that the 360 is a hilarious child's toy, which you need a hilarious childish controller to use, rather than a MANLY and MATURE keyboard. Ahuh.

I could make a console which is loads more powerful than the ps3..

it'll cost $10k to buy it.. but it'll be cool and will make the 360 and ps3 look graphically inferior.

Does the existence of that console make the other 2 redundantly inferior and therefor their graphics "crap"?

Or is the sensible option to say "hang on that's too expensive, i'll stick with the one i can afford.. Yes i can get better graphics.. But do i really care?"

Smelly, the 360 (which so far has proven to out do its competitors graphics-wise) is roughly the same price as the Wii. So your argument makes no sense (as usual) but anyway yeah, if someone released a console in roughly the same price range as the 360 but its games looked like FF-Spirits Within, then yeah, I would then consider the PS3 and 360 graphics to be a bit pants. This is the situation with the Wii at present.

P.S.smelly, your mummy love me long time. Did you know that?

There are hundreds upon hundreds of MP3 and portable digital music/media players out there these days. So why does iPod, which is comparitively expensive against more than half it's rivals, still sell so well?

Branding, ease of access, marketing, design etc. Nintendo took a leaf out of Apple's book admittedly but they've more or less done what they set out to achieve. Easy-access family-orientated console. It's small, the remote wireless control and add-ons make it interesting (people like to accessorise I notice, some people I see daily have a different mobile casing every day. No accounting for idiocy!), it's inoffensive...

Two more points. First of all, we've said this about Wii pricing but of course we should say it again - demand for the Wii is still very high, stock is better but in places still limited. Coming up to Christmas again stock will be even harder to come by I'd assume. Nintendo is a business at heart, and they're out to make money - and as long as people still queue up to pay £180 a throw on their machine, of course they're not going to drop the price. PS3 and 360 wouldn't have dropped their price if people were buying them in their droves. Then, price drops tend to happen, historically speaking, when there is more supply than demand - you have to create demand and dropping the price is a good way to generate short-term demand.

And then there's this whole graphics thing. To which there is a simple reply. It's selling an awful lot more than the PS3 and still outselling the 360 in some regions. That's a lot of people who don't really seem to care about the graphical prowess of the machine. Methinks people focus on graphics too much nowadays anyway.

"It's a very pretty game."
"But it's SHIT! I'm sorry man, but there's no control and dying every 20 seconds? Music that makes the Hoff look talented? IT'S SHIT!"
"But it's pretty though."
"It's SHIT! It's about as much fun as being eaten alive by hamsters whilst being forced to listen to the Cheeky Girls in your last agonising hours on this planet!""
"Ahh. But you miss the point - it looks good."

Okay, that was an exaggeration but it does amply demonstrate how so many people will put the looks of a game above all over aspects... and if you think I'm joking, there's plenty of examples to be found on Eurogamer...

Graphics are important if the game is good anyway. If the game is shit, the graphics aren't really going to make the pill any easier to swallow...

I don't think anyone puts visuals above all else. The 360 sits favourably with me because it has the best games and the best visuals (at present). I don't dislike the Wii because it can't handle decent visuals, more the fact there aren't many decent games on it either... The Wii does sell well but so did the LittleBritain game. That is all.
