It's probably not going to have the same impact as Resi 4. However, with the whole "Jill is dead" thing, I actually am rather intrigued. I mean, you need to have a bloody good excuse to kill off the master of lockpicking! WE STILL DEMAND OUR JILL SANDWICH! And every other Barry joke you can think of. (We have this! Okay, I'll stop now.) Jill is probably the best character that the Resi series has had. I mean, it takes a very special kind of person who, after all the previous experience with the zombie attacks, decides that the most effective costume to escape the city is a bright neon-blue boob tube and a miniskirt. Did she assume that the zombies would maybe get erections and fall over? Not forgetting her very unusual relationship with that lovable stalker we call Nemesis.
See, THAT is why Jill is great. She's the greatest of the characters because she's likable and well designed and actually prettier than most of the gaming babes we see today, and yet you can take the piss out of her mercilessly because the games were aimed so seriously and yet there's so much to mock.
Of course, Jill probably faked her death to undercover blah blah that's an obvious storyline but as a means to hook old Resi fans back into the game and love the new system (because there are a ton of purists who hate the Resi 4 control scheme for some very strange reason) Jill's timely demise will get them in, purely to find out if she died - and if she did, how she died.
Clever Capcom... although I much prefer Ashley calling me a pervert it must be said.
