Capcom and DC Comics have partnered to make comic-book stories based on Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.

Details on both projects, such as launch month, are yet to be revealed - but both parties are ever so excited about the deal.

"We're ecstatic that Resident Evil is returning to [DC Comics' publishing imprint] WildStorm, where we have already established deep roots into the mythos of this world. We can't wait to continue, and bring a freshness and excitement to the property to match the amazing things they are doing with the game," said Hank Kanalz from WildStorm.

He added: "Dante, Nero and the world of Devil May Cry is a perfect fit for the sensibilities of our studio. We have such terrific inspiration from the anime and games and we intend on meeting the exceptionally high standard of quality that has been set for this."

Resident Evil 5, your fourth most wanted game, is due out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 13th march 2009. We rather like the look of the game, as our E3 hands-on impressions will point out.

Devil May Cry 4 appeared on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 to relatively little fanfare earlier this year. Head over to our Devil May Cry 4 review to find out why.

Damn, I was hoping for Marvel for some crossover. Still, I'll take DC. They have some fantastic writers and artists there.

But can you bring something as kinetic as DMC to comic.

And do you think it will keep the awesome dialogue of the game?

Cool. I hope the Resi Evil comics will be considered canon with the games :)

Here's hoping that, in fact, they can. I'd certainly give it a look.

RE5 (XBPX) = 4th most wanted
RE5 (PS3) = 13th most wanted

If you were platform agnostic and combines BOTH stats, wouldn't it be closer to the top of the charts?

I didn't even notice that, I was wondering why the top few were multiformat.

Fable - 449 Most Wanted
Resi 5 360 - 324
Resi 5 PS3 - 153

Actual Number 1 Most Wanted = Resi 5 477 (assuming there isn't another one with seperate formats ahead)

I hear the DMC comic's second half is actually the first half with the colours inverted and all the panels up side down.

Also comes with a foldout board game and some dice, you have to finish it in order to see wich page you get to read next.

Would be perfect for the format / genre discussed by a few of us here:

Of course games are better than films, we all know that. Graphics quality is equal in most cases, personally I'd say Halo and Bioshock look much more advanced than films like Shrek and Robots.

But graphics aren't everything, and I'd say the main advantage is interactivity.

Games like GTA 4 tell an amazing story, but let you make decisions along the way and choose how you want to tackle each mission.

I'd like to see a real cross between a game and a film, where you can choose to watch or play each chapter. this would give you the option to get involved or if you want to sit back and watch with a beer in your hand you can do that too.

Dunno if anyone else thinks that is a good idea, maybe it's just me being lazy.

No, actually I think there's something there.

What if your input was just to change a few things at the start of the film. Say it's like a puzzle and you're trying to get the good ending. Then you watch a 30 minute film where all your decisions have a consequence.

I think it's an excellent idea, and developers should take note. This format would be great for certain game types - especially some types of interactive comic / graphic novel. It could be marvellous.

I don't buy comics - so I'd love to watch some of these comic stories, with full spoken dialogue and limited animation, but actually get to make a few decisions affecting the outcome, and maybe even play the boss battles in real time, with the outcome affecting the story as it continues.

THIS would expand the gaming audience, as it could be accomplished say on the Wii where you only need to pick up the Wiimote when a decision is to be made.

Would work great over the Internet as downloads as well, as they could stream in real-time.

You're on to something. This is better than renting old / rip off films from XBL.

Could be wonderful.

I had the first couple of issues of the Devil May Cry mini-series done by Dreamwave comics - unfortunately they went under before the series was completed.

I say unfortunately, but it wasn't too bad - Pat Lee is great at drawing robots, but absolute dog crap at drawing people...
