Rein unsure of Gears 2 Comic Con reveal

He's not heard anything.

Epic boss Mark Rein has suggested that those going to the New York Comic Con later this month will not see Gears of War 2 after all.

"I'm not aware that we're showing anything there," Rein told videogaming247.

This contradicts a press release advertising the event which claimed Epic big-shot Mike Capps would be offering a glimpse into the hotly anticipated sequel during a games summit speech.

Elsewhere on Epic watch, tech boffin Tim Sweeney revealed the unsurprising news that Gears of War 2 will have better lighting and physics. Apparently it'll also handle more networked players and feature enhanced vehicle interaction.

The animation will also be better, according to a soon to be published interview with Next-Gen, and there are some fresh features to be announced.

However, most of this he talked about on-stage at GDC back in February, while showing some impressive tech videos to demonstrate the Unreal Engine 3 improvements.

Meanwhile, Cliff Bleszinski moves one step closer to appearing in a L'Oreal advert.

i.e. reading between the lines Rein unsure if there will be enough to show at the comic con.

penhalion, what are you even on about?

This was obvious from the start - the original article simply said that the writer and some other guy would be at comic con TALKING about Gears 2. Of course then the internet took over and it snowballed into 'OMG EXCLUSIVE GOW2 FOOTAGE AT COMICON'

Even some news sites said there would be video. It's a shame even respected publications get caught up in rumours.

I'm on about the video man hence my comment Rein unsure if there will be enough to show at Comic con. Do you really think anyone from Epic would show up at comic con if they were not planning to show anything?

Of course they would. Heroes, Jericho, Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz... plenty of famous faces from movies and games have been at Comic con in the past simply to do interviews, speeches, signings and Q&A sessions with the audiences. They dont have to show anything at all. And the people showing up for GoW2 arent even the 'famous faces' in this case. They're just writers and whoever else.

You really think they'd have the first real footage shown by a writer?

Also don't forget that GoW2 has been in product since before the original game launched, and it's coming out this year. They have plenty they could show, they just wont yet.

Always the same with mark Rein... Always reacting to rumors by saying NO, and then 90% of the time the rumor actually turns out to be true (the other 10% being the GOW GOTY edition with all the PC stuff inside).
