Red Steel 2 to arrive this autumn

WMP controls to make difference, says Ubi.

Ubisoft plans to release Red Steel 2 exclusively on Wii this autumn.

The sequel's key addition is Wii MotionPlus support, which Ubisoft reckons will make the sword-fighting and gun-shooting much more fun. The Wii remote add-on can gauge the power of sword thrusts as well as their accuracy, apparently.

We've known Red Steel 2 will include WMP controls since last summer, and the capabilities of the new Nintendo technology are also no secret to us.

But any other information on Red Steel 2 - besides the desert metropolis setting - is scarce.

Red Steel 1 was a Wii launch title back in December 2006, and offered a glimpse at what was possible on the new Nintendo machine. Head over to our Red Steel review to see what we thought.

I really don't understand that lol, J1GSAW. Is it at the Wii MtionPlus support? The release date? Desert metropolis setting? I didn't find any of them tickling my funny bone but I suppose different people like different comedy :)

I'm looking forward to this, especially with such a different setting.

Question! Does adding the motion plus to the controller mean you can't insert the nunchuck? That's what I thought from photos but perhaps not.

    December 2006? 0_o

Sheesh. Didn't realise it was that long ago since the Wii launched.

    @ Ninja_Tino

There is a port on the WiiMotionPlus for the Nunchuk.

I haven't played Red Steel but I will probably get Red Steel 2 eventually.

The first game was horribly rushed and a tremendous disappointment, but the sequel should be good. There's no excuse now, plenty of time for development and Motion Plus. Get good Ubisoft. Get good.

On Ubi's website it says Holiday 2009.

That's US speak for Xmas, isn't it?

    @ Ninja_Tino

In Nintendo's E3 conference last year, was Reggie not using the M+ and nunchuk for the jet skiing? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway. Never played the first Red Steel so I can't comment on it. I'll probably get this though if they use M+ properly.
