Red Faction: Guerrilla gets PC date

Plus min/recommended specs, shots.

THQ has announced that the PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla will be released on 11th September for "international" customers, which we've been told includes Europe.

The US gets it on 15th September, and the publisher says it's "still finalising the digital distribution partners for each region".

Those of you hanging on for the PC version might also like to hear that it requires a 2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and a 128MB 3D card with Shader Model 3.0 support as a minimum.

However, it will totally hump your recommended leg if you fit yourself out with a 3.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM and a 256MB graphics card.

Check out our Red Faction: Guerrilla PC screenshot gallery to see how it looks running on the recommend specs.

A game about "freedom fighters" knocking down buildings getting released on September the 11th. The marketing will do itself!

Will the PC version include the DLC on release? I would hope so considering the huge delay :(

FINALLY! It took a while. I almost feel discriminated against as a mainly PC gamer :/

@kinky_mong - ouch. Good spot, but... just ouch.

I love these spec listings that just tell you how much video ram you need, and off you go.

@kinky_mong - I think they wised up too that by releasing it in the US 4 days later!

The question is, even though the requirements sound fairly modest, will the game run as poorly as Saints Row 2 did on a large majority of systems? As mentioned in several other threads on other sites, Xbox 360 games are optimised for 3 cores, not the 2 of the average Core 2/X2 machine. Oh how the great have fallen (Volition were once PC gods)

    2 Optimaximal
Volition were PC gods? Exactly when? Surely there were PC exclusive Descent - Free Space and Free Space 2, but for most gamers studio is associated with Red Faction series and (for some) even Saints Row.

Feck that then. I was hoping it would fill the gap between now and Forza3.

I'm looking forward to playing this game. I liked the console demos but felt the screen tearing was a little too excessive and nauseating personally so decided to wait for the much cheaper (£18!) PC version. Nevertheless it's depressing that PC owners have to wait so long for many of these multiformat games... Bionic Commando, FUEL, Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, Red Faction Guerilla... they've all been out months on the consoles and are/have only just started to appear on the PC. The only consolation is that in most cases the PC version is the definitive version and it's usually much cheaper to buy.

Donnie, jesus christ, go to your account look for the delete button...then fucking press it...for the sake of this forum, please kill yourself. Not literally obviously, although...if you did no one would probably notice anyway. kthnxbye. :)

Personally i dont care when a game is released, does it really matter if play game X now and play Y later than to have Y now and get around to X later.

Rather haver a game well optimised and fixed (if broken), then arrive a bit later and be loads of fun. As for red faction, i have a Xbox 360 but with so many games still to complete on it i thought i would get red faction later but may as well get it on PC as already pointed out it tends to be the definative version.

@Sharzam - That's a fair point but, sadly, later doesn't always mean better on the PC.

Remember the appalling port of Saints Row 2 which required two patches to fix many of the issues such as no support for 1680x1050 resolutions, etc., etc.? Or how about the broken AA in FUEL? How about GTA IV, awesome game, yes, but woefully converted to the PC with NO AA support and restrictive graphics settings based on how much video memory your card has.

    Need I go on?

When PC conversions are good like Resident Evil 5 for example, it is really pleasing and makes the wait worthwhile but, sadly, there's still a few too many publishers out there who show little regard for the PC; it's an afterthought once the console versions have been released. I really hope that RFG is one of the better ones.
