Red Dead Redemption UK retailer deals

Choose from GAME, HMV, Amazon, Zavvi.

Rockstar's revealed the UK-specific retailer deals for cowboy game Red Dead Redemption. And all the gifts are useful.

Amazon will give buyers Golden Guns that reap more Fame per kill than normal firearms. And the more Fame you have, the more side-missions will become available.

GAME will give away a Deadly Assassin outfit that, when worn, replenishes the Dead Eye meter twice as fast. This slows time and allows perfect shots to be lined up.

HMV will give you a War Horse - the fastest, strongest and toughest beast in the land.

And Zavvi has Brady Games mini-guides to entice purchasers with.

Red Dead Redemption is due out on 30th April 2010. Look, a video!

Which weapon will you use?

Does it matter? I'd rather know if the game was any good or not.
  • Tomo #2 2 years ago

    I hate these content deals.
  • Flying_Pig #3 2 years ago

Not a fan of retailer specific bonus stuff TBH (unless is physical SE stuff ^_^)

Can't we all play the game on a level playing field??
  • Byblos1 #4 2 years ago

I'm sure someone out there will be stupid enough to buy it 4 times.
  • telboy007 #5 2 years ago

And where can I just buy the "game"?
  • feistycheese #6 2 years ago

Thats nice. I think Ill get it from the store that gives me 'the cheapest deal' perk.
  • wingedlegionary #7 2 years ago

I'm really looking forward to this game. Looks like a very interesting western, i hope none of these exclusives will have a really meaningful impact on the gameplay, but then again it's not competetive so it's not a huge deal

OMG! useful pre-order bonuses?! what's the world coming to?! WHERE'S MY USELESS TAT ROCKSTAR?!*

    Exclusive DLC sucks.
  • seanthejackal #11 2 years ago

  • bluem4gic #12 2 years ago

The one with the cheapest price will get my money. I not interested in DLC crap!
  • JackyB #13 2 years ago

what a load of old tosh
    Me "game please"
Them "any side orders with that? like to go large?"
    Me "No. fuck off"
  • Lionheart #14 2 years ago

How cool would duel golden revolver's look?? Love it :)
  • zuljin #15 2 years ago

Right. Amazon it is then, since its the only one selling it for under £35.

EDIT: Said HMV - meant Amazon

I want the version that comes with an exclusive map that gives you directions to Brokeback Mountain.
  • VibratingDonkey #17 2 years ago

So no matter where you buy it you're missing out. These pre-order bonuses are so awesome.
Good thing they all seem to be rather useless.

Fame: Not much point as you can just earn fame the good 'ol fashioned way (completing tasks/kills), as I'm sure it's not going to be a grindfest!

Dead Eye meter: Most interesting one for me, since it seems more about fun than anything else.

Rock Hard Horse: Suppose this is good to kill those "barren land" moments.

    Guide: Yeah... no sale.
  • Terribly_Mauled #19 2 years ago

Well I'm sure you could easily get two of these - Amazon ALWAYS send me DLC codes from their preorders, even if I cancel. Got my Star Trek Online one the other week, even though I got it off Shopto in the end
  • darkmorgado #20 2 years ago

Rockstar's revealed the UK-specific retailer deals for cowboy game Red Dead Redemption, which will be leaked by accident on Xbox live shortly before release"

    Fixed
  • Bits #21 2 years ago

Fuck preorder bonuses and fuck retailer exclusive bonuses even harder.
  • Chazmeister #22 2 years ago

To be honest I'd rather play the game as it was intended than use any of those "cheats".
  • metalangel #23 2 years ago

I second that. A bit like the "exclusive" preorder bonus vehicles "exclusive" to certain shops in the US for Saint's Row 2 that were "exclusive" until someone posted online what number to dial into your phone in-game to spawn them.
  • Rizob #24 2 years ago

I guess i can cross all those stores off my list then. I will be buying it from an online retailer that is not only cheaper but also doesn't take part in this rubbish.
  • kingcrude #25 2 years ago

How will games ever be accepted as an art form as long as the product is split up, limited and not a complete package. It's like having to pay to get a eyepatch removed when walking round a museum.
  • TheLittlestHobo #26 2 years ago

Hate these deals too. Using bonus items feels like your starting the game with some sort of cheat mode enabled which makes me feel dirty. Do the retailers pay to get these 'bonuses' ? Cheaper game > silly trinkets.
  • munki83 #27 2 years ago

At least the DLC seems better than the ME2 dlc but what's the bets that you can easily upgrade your equipment to beat the dlc failry easily. Talking about the ME2 special DLC I have both the blood armor and inferno armor and don't use either. ITs a good thing the game is awesome or I'd be upset :p
  • darleysam #28 2 years ago

And shopto will probably be cheaper than the rest.

    Sold!
  • MiniAmin #29 2 years ago

Feistycheese and Tomo have said all i'd want to say really; this is bloody stupid.

Imagine the scenario: "NO NO NO! No... NO! I said to buy it from GAME, now my dead eye meter will replenish twice as slow!"
  • oceanmotion #30 2 years ago

    What a load of balls.
  • LR100 #31 2 years ago

Not one of those sites has this preorder info out. I wanna know if these games can be aquired in game and that these are just day one unlock codes. I'd be annoyed if I can't have any of this stuff in-game at some point whilst playing it.
  • Rushy #32 2 years ago

I really hate this short of shit. As someone else has already said, whoever has the cheapest price will get my pre-order. DLC crap like this won't influence me at all.
  • schnide #33 2 years ago

I'm specifically going to avoid all of these retailers then.
  • stevethemeat #34 2 years ago

Could this replace Strangers Wrath as the greatest wild west game ever?

2 flagrant shills in 2 days.

    Times are tough for Eurogamer.
  • bumgut #36 2 years ago

I'm waiting for the version that completes the game for me as soon as I start the game, and then immediatley gives me the maximum achievements points.

It's why I got into gaming in the first place!

  • dirtschmooz #37 2 years ago

I'll stick with my £28 pre order from Argos, although it'll likely show up in April 2011

Dead Eye meter: think i'll wait for the version that includes Japs eye meter

If anyone here has ever bought any special edition of any game ever, the rest of us want you to know that this is all your fault.

Was it worth it for a shitty figurine?
  • suicida #40 2 years ago

Like pretty much everyone here, I fucking hate these sort if deals and would rather have the complete game from day one without feeling like I'm missing out on stuff because I didn't buy it from the right shop... Still my most anticipated game of 2010 though.
  • FortysixterUK #41 2 years ago

I like the add on that makes the game the CHEAPEST !
I notice the story of employee mis-treatment at Rockstar games has gone away.....was it true?
    Or just a disgruntled employee?
Is there smoke without fire ?
  • octavedoctor #42 2 years ago

As Zappa said 'Hydrogen is not the most common thing in the Universe, Stupidity is'

Joe-Stupid Chav boy in the street or monkey teen-age dipwang'll see that go 'yippee, gotta buy it from there for my golden bling guns...I'll be Waay cooler than everyone else'

  • metallicorphan #43 2 years ago

great(!)...so even before i have bought the game i am missing out

i wouldn't mind it so much if it was to be made available to everyone who bought the game a week or two later

for me i will prolly go for the GAME or Amazon one

losing out on the faster horse, just means i will have to whip my normal horse twice as hard,LOL

the Zavvi one is a bit shit really isn't it?..especially if you are planning on getting the guide anyway
  • Diabeu #44 2 years ago

I don't mind metal case, imo better than pcv shit, but figurines and other shit?? wtf is going on with this business?

TBH I'll just stay with the usual second-hand deal, 2 months later but 50% cheaper
  • Lee_Morris #45 2 years ago

Just wanted to pop in and say these types of multi store, pre order deals really piss me off. Luckily they're pretty crap and I won't be downloading them even if I do end up ordering from that store (the price OR a proper collectors edition will pull me in that direction) I would like to play the games as intended by the developers, not the PR team, thank you very much.

Still the game I'm most hyped about this year. I hope those R* rumors weren't true
  • Spekingur #46 2 years ago

I have no feud with games shipping with figurines and suchlike physical stuff. But in-game stuff like this - really dislike it.
  • Odessa #47 2 years ago

To all those complainers: Please send me your code then if you "accidently" buy from a retailer with special deals. Id like to have them all ;-)

I just wonder if you can unlock those stuff during the game somehow? do not wanna miss anything from this.
  • Stroller4 #48 2 years ago

The problem is that this is all about offering "differentiation" for retaillers, it's not really meant for the gamers (who in most cases will just look for the cheapest price). It's been sold in to Game and HMV that "if you give us bigger posters in the windows and maybe a nice branded cardboard display case at the end of an aisle, we'll give you some bling guns/horse/outfit that is exclusive to you. Amazon get something as well, so that they don't throw their toys out the pram and Zavvi, well, looking at what they get, they don't have much pull.
It's all about getting the best marketting for the lowest price and these "special" gifts cost nothing - certainly less than the t-shirts, caps, keyrings that they used to give away, so unfortunately, they are here to stay. I just think it's a shame that in this instance they confer an advantage and that next time, even more of an advantage will have to be offered to get the same concessions from the retailers. Personally, gold plated versions of standard guns, a Clint Eastwood styled The Good, The Bad and the Ugly outift and maybe a horse with a ghostly glow at night, essentially cool looking stuff but with no further benefit / stat changes, would have been just as compelling for those who like shiny things.
  • Grayvern #49 2 years ago

I'll defend special editions. But not when they have in game content or when they have split content between retailers.
