Red and blue PS3 controllers on the way News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

29 July, 2009

Sony has told Eurogamer there are "no details" to offer about red and blue PlayStation 3 controllers heading to Europe. Sniff.

The Deep Red and Metallic Blue colours were confirmed the US overnight, according to Engadget, and will appear this October.

Sony has also told Eurogamer there is no European date for EyePet. "We haven't confirmed a release date for EyePet at this time but will do so shortly," a spokesperson said.

EyePet, a PS3 game, uses the PS Eye to conjure a virtual and adorable Nintendogs/Tamagotchi experience. Core gamers might baulk at the idea, but Ellie quite liked it.

Head over to her hands-on impressions of EyePet to find out more.

Of course "No Details" for Europe. Typical!

I still wonder why we get treated like shit when it comes to the good stuff :/

Awaiting your ideas :)

I long for the day that us Europeans get the same products and services as the US.

Sony have always done this, as do nintendo. I can't see why though.. Is there some great additional cost bringing different colour controllers to europe?

Those look hideous, so I'll be sticking with my white one I think.

Agree with everyone saying they're hideous. I'll stick with the black and white ones.

Of course you can't simply offer a different colour in Europe just like that. The colour needs to be translated into a whole lot of languages, and of course checked for possible licensing issues. It's not as simple as it may seem!

Stop faking indignation. They aren't that good.

Chances are Europe isn't getting them because no one would buy them.

More like Cheap Red and Manky Blue, amirite? ;)

But seriously, they look pretty horrific. Cheap and nasty. No great loss for EU if they don't come here.

If they have the same build quality as the DualShock 3 I bought last summer I don't care what colour they are, they can stick 'em.

// gives wry look at controller with weak-ass R2 spring.

I don't have a PS3, but I geniunely don't have anything against it as a console, but would never consider one because I don't like the Sony controller. Perhaps if they invested money in designing a new controller that felt as comfortable to use as the Microsoft one I could be persuaded. Continue to run a 15 year old designed controller and I'll never own one. The controller is more important to me than manufacturer's badge on the side of a console, or the size, shape or colour of the machine!

These things can probably be imported anyway, if you really want them. I imported my DS3 so I would have it for the release of MGS4.

Why no green? :(

We still buy their crap though don't we? Until we ALL go "NO!" and don't spend money with Sony we will continue to be screwed by the ongoing joke that is SCEE.

On this one though good luck to 'em selling to everyone but us - they look bloody awful!

Multi-coloured controllers, that'll solve all the problems with the PS3!
