Developer Insomniac Games has revealed that Ratchet & Clank for PS3 will be released across the US on 23rd October.

The news came from its latest podcast, which you can listen to over on the official website.

Sony had previously hinted to us that we may see it here in September, although it was unavailable for comment this afternoon. We fear it may have slipped into the murky regions of 2008.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is shaping up to be another solid hit in the well bred platform series, traditionally aimed at a younger audience. Even so, it tends to fare well in front of beady-eyed critics alike, and is a much-cherished Sony exclusive.

R&C has always been a fine series - I hope they continue to do it justice on the PS3.

Is there any good reason why it may slip to 2008 here? Region delays should be practically non-existent on PS3, with US titles anyway (and so far we've only been a few weeks out at the most).
