Radio 1 plans Big Gaming Weekend
EG's own Johnny Minkley gets involved.
BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra are hosting a series of games events this bank holiday as part of their Big Gaming Weekend.
That'll include an online poll to find the greatest ever videogame. A panel of experts will compile a shortlist of 100 titles, then you can vote for your top three.
Scott Mills will launch the poll on Friday between 6.30am and 10am. The results will be revealed on Bank Holiday Monday during Mistajam's show, which is broadcast on Radio 1 and 1Xtra between 7pm and 10pm.
Also on Monday, Radio 1 will be playing classic tracks from videogame soundtracks. Eurogamer's own Johnny Minkley will join Jo Whiley for a chat, and at 1pm Fearne Cotton and Aled Hayden-Jones will host a special gaming-themed Surgery session.
And finally, Rampage from 1Xtra will launch a gaming blog on the BBC website.

It's not even the first time that's happened. Colin Murray did an hour of video game music one week. Finished on Still Alive too. It was wonderful.
Should be interesting though. I'll probably be spending all weekend gaming with the radio on anyway, so this is most suitable.

I am old.
Last week I was channel hopping and they was a making of Nirvanas Nevermind on there, so started watching that, then the ads came on and it said 'you are watching the classic album program, on VH1 classics' I felt REALLY old.
I am 33.
Anyway back on topic, this could be really good, or utter shite, and the top 3 games will be from the last 5 years or so!
Tried to get my 12 year old nephew to play Goldeneye on the N64 over the weekend, he made fun of it.

Yeh, that's exactly what I was thinking, but then they'd have only hosted it in London and had a bunch of everyday mongs off the street go anyway, so probably not such a bad thing.

Exactly. They've missed a trick.
As long as they include the SSFIITHDR title music in their classic tracks, then I'm happy.
I also want to hear the Burnout 3 title screen theme music. Both the Lazy Generation and the main dance track would be good to hear.
Cheers!
