Race Driver: GRID PC demo up

No BMW prize-car for you.

Codemasters has gotten around to offering a Race Driver: GRID demo on PC, after the console versions went live last week.

You can download it from Codemasters' website if you like. It's just under 900MB.

Nearly everything is the same; you can race in single-player GRID World events in Mustangs and what-not, or finish the fight online against 11 others.

However, there appears to be no chance for you to post your fastest lap time to win a shiny BMW like what posh people drive.

Race Driver: GRID is due out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on 30th May.

So far, all signs point to yes.

I may try the PC demo but these kinds of games are better suited to the consoles IMO hence I'm getting the 360 version. And the release date has been brought forward from July to 30th May now... great news, that means it's only a few weeks away! :)

uh, the PC demo was out 2 days ago.

did not like. handling is worst of any racing game i've played. with a force feedback wheel anyway - maybe it's designed for joypads, meh.

Please have deadzone support for the 360 wireless controller...

Actually makes the game quite a bit harder using the forcefeedback wheel on the 360 (much more likely to spin out for some reason - having to constantly scoop up the backend).

On PC after rFactor and it's genre defining friends - not sure there is that much point releasing this on the PC. Surely those with arcadey pandering's will have purchased a console long ago?

Unless of course as I suspect - the Codies development system means the PC version can almost be released at the cost of QA PC component compatibility testing. Which bodes well for Operation Flashpoint 2 on PC - which runs on the same engine.

looks very nice and runs well. Controls were a bit strange but then they were on PS3. Handles like a hybrid arcade/simulation somewhere in the middle.

Do Codies not test the 360 wheel then? The DiRT demo was uncontrollable!

    Don't be so sure :)

I'm not a big enough fan of racing games to buy a console for Forza or GT, but I enjoy a good arcade racer all the same. I'd buy Mario Kart if it was a PC game.

"Nearly everything is the same" same as which one, the 360 or PS3 demo? (technically) one is good, one is not so good.

So much for NEON being seamless across platforms.

^The same in terms of features, obviously. It's impossible to be the same technically as the console versions, as that is entirely dependent on hardware.

I suspect you knew this already, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you weren't just console trolling :)

That was my first comment ever on EG!

I feel it was somewhat lacking in the oomph deparment....

    Oh well!! ;P

EG has gotten pretty lazy with PC coverage. Lego Indiana Jones demo is out too, btw
