I know it'll look better on the Xbox than my Radeon 9000, but I don't like the sound of that save system, maybe the PC version will be more flexible.

The 'sponsored by' adverts of this that were on the start of Stargate SG-1 last season made it look awful! Doesn't seem that bad from the write-up, but those clips have put me off forever! :-)

Played the demo and really didnt like it. A tip to all demo makers - Dont give the player a mashed up shipped that wont be repaired till the next (not included in demo) mission. A demo is meant to show the best bit(s) of a game.

Sometimes a demo is designed to entice you to buy the game to see the best bits.

Oh well. I had some hope that this could turn out really well but I'll probably stear clear and find a AAA title to fill my time.

I kind of liked the demo..... Shooting stuff off the freighter brought back plenty of X-Wing/Tiefighter [PC] memories for me..... aaaahhh neutering those star destroyers before the final kill... oh for a 'box conversion of those puppies.......

Another sucker?

You do know that AAA means that it has had a _BIG_ Budget, NOT that it is good. (Enter the Matrix... etc. examples)

What I played was rubbish so I wont be risking £40 in case there are better bits.

I've always used tiple A to mean a title with a higher quality or budget for their production. A google search seems to say that is a common usage.

Yes EtM may be an AAA title but I decided against buying that as it wasn't enjoyable for me despite the vast production values. I might have been clearer if I'd pointed to a trusted developer/publisher in my comment. If I'd said a triple A title from Ninty then you'd probably think Zelda WW or Metroid recently.

Hmm, I've always used AAA to signify a high quality game rather than an expensive to produce game. Perhaps this usage is incorrect.

I do recall being amused at the senior Microsoft bloke who was enthusing at me about how many AAA titles the Xbox was going to have coming up to Christmas - he named Blinx specifically and I spluttered and pointed out to him that HE doesn't get to call that a AAA title, it's down to consumers and press and they both sorta disagreed with him. He was terribly annoyed.

Don't tell me now that I was wrong, it'll ruin it :)

I always thought AAA meant the game deserves the highest mark, ie an "A", for gameplay, graphics and, er, sound or something, hence it's a "triple A" title?.

To me, 'triple-A' means the highest quality, the sort of title you'd buy the machine in order to play.

What happened to them all? I can only think of Splinter Cell... :-)

this review was a little unfair i reckon, the controlls are far from clumsy and the lack of speed makes close quarter dogfights a reality, and theres boosts when long distances have to be covered. The games pretty hard, but the missons are varied and interesting, with little sub plots cropping up during each level. c'mon eurogamer, it deserves 8 or 9 out of ten at least.

lol - AAA is a wonderful concept. Basically it's pretty meaningless - all it actually means is "really good", and that's usually the publisher's viewpoint, not anyone else's as Shinji points out.

From the publisher's perspective, every title is supposed to be AAA - when was the last time you heard a publisher say, "well this new game isn't really AAA, it's more AA, or perhaps even A, but hey, look at the size of this character's breasts!"?

Of course, given the overall ratio of hits-to-stinkers, very few AAA titles are actually hits. In fact, if it's a hit game then it probably won't get called AAA. You won't hear Half-Life or GTAIII being called by AAA by their makers - but publishers who are desperately trying to gain kudos for their latest title by comparing it to one of these games certainly will.

Does AAA mean a truckload of cash has been spent on it? Usually, but that's just par for the course these days. Niche Japanese rhythm action titles and obscure but addictive shareware games probably aren't AAA in this respect. Our loss, obviously....

Has anyone spotted the first AAAA game yet?

Argh, too much whining about scores! How about portraying everything as a one to ten scale, then marking out of 20, adding a variable number of the letter 'A's?

e.g. Yager 14/10AAA
Mafia 10/10AAAAAAAAA(crp)?
