I found myself wondering how much more fun Konami could have packed in by offering these sorts of challenges against weaker opposition in its own game.

Quite simply because Konami have become very lazy mate, that's why.

EDIT - Oh, & foist (as they say in New York)

A good point, spoilt irrecoverably by the "first".

Nul points.

Sounds interesting. Though I doubt I'll be picking it up. Does the portable Fifa have the global challenge mode in, I thought that was an excellent feature in teh 360 version, and sounds like it's moving towards the tasks available in this game.

So, despite not suffering from PES' framerate problems, offering something that sounds different and seemingly more suited to handheld gaming, the PES fanboy reviewer gives it less than PES? Well colour me shocked.

Lots of grammatical errors too. Edit - OK, so you've found the worst offender and corrected it, bet you can't find ALL the others - imagine it's a platform game : )

/enjoyed the first, glad this sounds better.

In all fairness, you don't need to be a PES fanboy to realise that if PES 5 on PSP had included a masterleague it might as well have come covered in superglue as it would ever leave my PSP.

World Tour Soccer is a different animal to PES, and I for one am happy to look past the PES frame rate issues as it is by far the superior football game on the format.

If they get PES 6 right and give us a masterleague option I will quite literally spaff in my pants.

PES needs to sort its loading times. that was the main issue i had with the PSP version. yes, masterleague would be a great addition too.

I just don't think PES translates well to handhelds.

Anyone know if this still has ad-hoc mode? Or has internet wotchamajig? If so can you co-op? that'd be fun.

Me thinks reviews could do with a little more basics of the product at hand and a little less flowery comparisons to reviewers favourite game. just imo, you understand.

I have PES 5 for the PSP and it's so much harder than the Xbox version. Not just because of the PSP's controls or small screen, but the AI is tough as nails. Konami would have been better to make the PSP version easier, not tougher.

It has up to four-player adhoc and two-player infrastructure multiplayer. You can't play co-op against the CPU, though.

Seeing as this thread is about PES':

I've tried it despite the average reviews, but it can't be described as an enjoyable port.

- the load times are shit
- why can't i change the shirts like i can on the xbox?
- it really gets boring without a decent league to keep you interested
- it uses to many buttons for the handheld.
- the control sticks don't really work
- the loading makes terrible noise
- the framerate, well what can you expect from a playstation but it's still a very negative aspect of the game.

So I bought Lumines, which is a beautiful game. The only downsides on that game are
a) why does it ask me to load the original rankings after i've set a new score?
b) it's not football.

Hi. PES is also begining to annoy me, it pushes defensive play, too, too much!

Winning Eleven Advance is ace. If it wasn't in japanese, I probably had bought a GBA for it alone. The key? Simplified controls, good modes (it even had a master league) and still a blast to play. Why they decided to localize the inferior ISS is beyond my compreehension.

IMO this is a better handheld footie game than PES.

I tried and tried with PSP PES, but eventually the ridiculous loading times and turgid gameplay drove me away. I couldn't help thinking "this is just not fun"!

WTS2 by comparison is accessible, intuitive, and quite simply a whole lot of fun!

As far as close-control goes, there's enough variety in the change of pace that the walk/sprint/push ball ahead system to let you can dribble past defences with some skill.

Also I like the "step-in" tackle is purely timing-based (in pes I spent a lot of time when defending just keeping the tackle pressed so my play homes into the opposition).

For those that are tempted but not sure, you can download the demo from the psp site and see for yourself! (Why doesn't Sony make more of this? There's currently 2 demos on the site. It's a great way of promoting the "smaller" psp releases: MORE DEMOS PLEASE!!)
