It' s not like doing a HDD install on a console is that much hassle: you put the disk in the console for the first time, select "yes", wait for a few minutes and that's it. Not needing it would be even better I agree but it's not that big a deal.

I don't think he was saying installing it to HDD was so much of a hassle (though it is somewhat) as managing the content afterwards. Deleting the game from your HDD when you think you're done playing it and then reinstalling, etc., etc., can become bothersome.

Nah... there's plenty of room on a PS3 disk... I'm already juggling content on the 360. And besides, the PS3 menu makes it dead easy to remove that kind of data.

Good on the PS3. A quality title.

Just a shame it's pretty much geared to multi-player. I like a good single-player experience in my games too.

Was kinda hoping for a bad score. I want warhawk to be the prefered online shooter of choice on the ps3. Ah well, maybe this is a better game, i'll try it eventually.

why do you keep going on about exclusives all the time? you keep saying you own a ps3 and a 360 so it should make no difference to you. i actually do own both and if a games good then i don't give a damn if it comes out on pc or the wii or whatever. i don't get why you are so negative about a console you allegedly own.

I'd much rather install a game once for a few minutes, and then have no disc drive noise, faster loading times and possibly not even the need to put a disc in the drive. 5 minutes of "hassle" once > 20 hours of hassle while I play the game.

LOL, Tom (the reviewer) even admitted that this game only got a 9/10 because all the other PS3 games in the same genre are basically shit!

I think it's pretty sad that the PS3's catalogue is still so pathetic after a whole year that reviewers have to add points on to review scores just to signify that this is a one of a kind on the PS3...i.e. a decent game...

I mean really guys - pick an argument that will stand the test of time (unlike your 360 hardware) as you KNOW that over it's lifetime the PS3 will get plenty of 8's, 9's and even 10's and your 'argument' will seem even more pathetic than it does now.

I think WOW is hurting PC gaming whether than helping PC. WOW is sucking every gamers into it and they only play WOW, nothing else. PC gamer is not buying new games. U know what? Crysis only sold 89,000 copies. Even Ratchat&Clank sold 200,000+ copies, double Crysis and than some. Is there a future for PC developers other than Blizzard?

Sure. I'm a PS3 fan. Big deal. I've owned all three consoles this generation (unlike the vast majority of 'fanboys') and have chosen to stick with PS3 (after not being loyal to Sony last generation I might add) so I think I'm entitled to an opinion - one I reserve for situations when Xbots can't keep their ill-informed tongues in their heads.

Not sure I understand that statement. Those three games are all excellent reasons to get a PS3! Uncharted and RC are both truly stunning, with many people claiming Uncharted is *the* best looking console game.

Sure, people don't generally go around 'beating each other over the head for a PS3' but then if you read the Christmas-rush stories I suppose the PS3 has been the item of theft in a number of gun/knife robberies since launch.

Bloody hell - I didn't know Crysis had sold that badly! Still, that might mean it's coming to consoles to recoup some cash? Hope so...

Oh and Kryon, seeing as you asked: the PS3 already has a 10/10 game - Oblivion. The only EG 10/10 game released on the 360 in its first year too. Spooky.

It'll probably take us about another year from Oblivion being launched to get another 10/10 too - just like it did with you.

I agree that installing is a faff a lot of users can do without. I suppose it depends on how easy this is to set up. There is also an argument that as all PS3's have a harddrive the using it when it can help produce a better game - as an option - is something good no?

Symbiote, let's be realistic here, suuure some guys might have liked something like Uncharted on their 360 this year, or a title as lovely as Ratchet and Clank TOD, but one thing I and I'm sure 95% of all other 360 owners aren't crying out for is another multi-player focused FPS title, 360 owners have bloody loads, and a lot are equal or more highly rated than Unreal too. So the fact that the PS3 has it earlier isn't that big of a deal :/ So again, chill out slightly, and just enjoy the game.

As soon as it becomes the next darling of the hardcore gamer a.k.a. the 'professional' gaming journalist... Let's face it, unlike review scores for established media, video game review scores are completely unrelated to the tastes of the average consumer. Just look at the sorry sight of the game press struggling with how to approach the Wii. They're completely out of touch with reality and are rapidly becoming irrelevant.

I second that actually. From that point of view, every launch game on every console should get 10/10 simply because there are no alternatives. This is a stupid way to review games and makes the scores very unreliable.

I'm not sure if I'll pick this up when it comes out in March. There may be too many other games to choose around the same time.

Sounds like a good game though and loved the original UT. Personally I think UT3 is different from both COD4 and Warhawk in gameplay, so I wouldn't have a problem owning all three. The problem is with Haze and Killzone2 coming out around about the same time, will people have the cash to spend after Christmas?

At least this game stops the talk of PS3 being graphically inept compared to the 360. ;)

TBH Les, review scores for established media are probably just as related/unrelated to average consumer tastes as video game review scores. Quite apart from the discussion over the merits of whether or not review scores should exist at all, at the end of the day it's all subjective opinion. There is no "arbiter of taste" or final ultimate "taste" authority for any of this stuff. And just as well too.

Somehow, against the beasts that are Halo 3 and COD4, I doubt it.

Unreal Tourney has stagnated for way too long. It's a very generic, by-the-numbers, multiplayer FPS. Sure, it's slick (got it on the PC, which kinda infers that you got it after i'd finished with it, but I won't go there...) but to somehow elevate it to God-like levels is a bit far fetched.

Lol, Symby me old china, who said anything about the first year? Besides, the PS3 has been out well over a year now with only one 'sloppy seconds' 10/10 which 360 owners were playing the year before. The point is, how many 360 games have scored a 10/10 on EG? 3 or 4? how many PS3 games, none apart from a year old 360 port..."This is living" XD

Yeah, but films don't get gradually slower the more you see on screen. If a game can hold a steady 30fps, regardless of whats flying around, that's great. If not, not so great.

Movies have a filter applied that adds motion blur between each frame, thereby making them appear smoother than they actually are - a similar trick to that performed by PGR3/4. However, watch a movie in HD and the stuttering camera is slightly more evident than it is on TV or a huge blurry cinema screen.

This argument that movies are 24fps and therefore it's not noticeable is a tiring argument that holds no water.
