When someone puts down a Draw 4 card, the next person either draws 4 cards, or puts another Draw card, and the next person needs to draw 8 cards. The card obviously remains after being played (you play it and leave it there), and the last player chooses the color to be played next. The player who draws 4 cards, can't play, (in some rules it can, check your rules) and the next played card needs to be a card of the said color, or a black card.

Variations of Uno include drawing a card until you find a card to play (I don't like it, because it can take forever), ability to play cards after Drawing 2 or 4 cards, and being able to put a Draw 4 card over a Draw 2, and a Draw 2 over a Draw 4 (provided it's the same color the person who played the Draw 4 selected). Other variations include putting simbol cards over Draw 2 and Draw 4 cards (change direction works as it should, and stop next player from playing, simply jumps yourself the duty to Draw X cards to the next player (it doesn't jump the next person, unlike the normal rules))
