Sometimes I wonder if you guys will only be 100% happy with a game if the characters leap out of the screen and start dancing around all over your living-room floor...!

That would most definitely make me unhappy! :-)

I am getting a few hours away from the real world to actually enjoy this game but you've gotta admit that the AI sucks. Run into a broom cupboard followed by guards, turn off the lights and stand still. The guards say "He just vanished!" like I am some super stealth guy, not just somone who's figured out the lightswitch.

ROLFMAO. Sounds absolutely sh*te. Looks like the programmers forgot to program AI in. lol.

"Gawd, talk about nitpicking. Sometimes I wonder if you guys will only be 100% happy with a game if the characters leap out of the screen and start dancing around all over your living-room floor...!"

We all nitpick every so often when it suits us, personally I am glad to hear it, there has been far too much praise, every game has its problems it helps that there is rational praise and critique in equal measure...damn I am starting to sound like FB, someone kill me, preferably by not pumping in to me if possible ;)

I think no matter what game comes out and sells well, you'll always find people who read EDGE magazine a bit too much and will systematically pick said game to bits. I didn't read EDGE's review of GTA VC but I bet they were less than complimentary...

Same goes for Splinter Cell...I'm still gobsmacked to think that this is a UBISOFT game...and if this is the shape of things to come from their canadian dev studio, I can't wait to see the next game they come out with...

Still don't you think it is nice for the public to get both a derogatory review and one full of praise, it means one has a better idea of what they are buying into. Games cost too much to just rely on one "it's the best fucking thing ever" review. Of course the derogatory review also has to be factual.

I don't mind a balanced view across the press but Edge just seem to get a huge kick out of slating stuff for very pathetic reasons. They're bluddy famous for it, they are the gaming press equivalent of NME, too busy wallpapering the insides of their own arses to actually bother forming a decent unbiased and balanced opinion.

Maybe it sounds like I've caught a dose of EDGE but you can't really have a "unbiased and balanced opinion" unless you list the features on the back of the box and say "Great - if you like this sort of thing." - which I guess isn't really an opinion.

It's really bad when a review takes an overly critical tone (e.g. Edge's Mario Sunshine review) but probably worse when you sound like you've never played another game in your life (the BBC teletext game reviewer)

Right, off to shop for some arse wallpaper...

Comments noted. I would've liked to have seen Edge being a bit fairer though. I really do get the impression that they "slag for slag's sake" half the time and hardly ever admit to actually enjoying a game despite its shortcomings (I hardly play Mario Sunshine at all now but while I did I would say that the experience was enjoyable, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought the thing in the first place!)

I think I'm in the minority on here in thinking that Edge's reviews are just too up themselves so I guess I'd better keep my opinions to myself just in case ST, the biffo Fan Club manager tracks me down to here...

I disagree, the lighting is fantastic. Take the staircase with the bulbs hanging on cords, as the cord sways the lighting is SO realistic. subtle hues light up sams face, all sources cast light incredibly AND shadows.

" I'm not sure how on earth you know when the Xbox is outputting at 60Hz or not. Any ideas people? "

Look at the screen!

60Hz has about 100 scanlines less in the image and that's pretty obvious.
