9 out of 10...... surely you cant give a game that crashes and is a bit short that high? considering the poor scores that virtually all xbox games have received here, i'm sensing some bias here........

nah, no bias, i think

every game has it's flaws, it just matters whether it can rise above them or not.
console prejudices aside, rogue leader is truly fantastic. if it had been an xbox title it would have made me buy one.

Face it, everyone want to destroy the Death Star, and you get to do it twice in this game. What else is there?

What gets me about this game is even when you watch someone else play it, you are not bored - even in the slightest!

One time, my friend was taking on the Star Destroyer - one life left (one life he exploded on the shield generator to take it out!) and only the bridge to go. He flew straight at it, and just before he could pull away he got cut down in a hail of turbolaser shots, only for the husk of his ship to carry on on, hit the bridge, destroying it and complete the mission.

Marvellous!

He also got a medal.

The Bonus missions are brilliant - won't say anything in case it spoils the suprise...... =]

Damned good game, hasn't crashed on me once, and I've clocked up a fair bit of time on this.

Get a cube, this and a long weekend and you'll be happy.

The game creates something which a number of games fail to do these days - Atmosphere. It sucks you in, and that is what makes it a great game and not just a good game.

BTW, if I click a link to one of these sites does it get you guys some cash if I buy the item, cos I personally don't mind doing such a thing, much better than paying IGN for some jumped up review shit.

/dons his Rogue Leader armour to avoid Xbox fanboys

I LOVE this game. I got Waverace and Luigi with my cube but I've only played WR for about an hour and haven't touched Luigi's (though my gf loves it).

The whole of my weekend was taken up with this game. The graphics are LUSH, the sound breathtaking through the right setup and you do feel as if you're in the movie.

I've wanted this since the first film came out.

And there's plenty of replay value (I'm afraid I'm still stuck on the Battle of Endor mission - take down two Star Destroyers? Are you kidding!!???!!)

Nice review - bang on.

One thing I have to add, whenever someone sees a ship that look like the Millenium Falco, they immideatley think "Oh, that's the Millenium Falcon". That's wrong, the MF is a modified Corellian Transport, not all Corellian Transports are Millenium Falcons...there, had to get it out of me.

Besides SMB, this is pretty much the only game I'd want for the Cube...too bad I don't have the cash.

Played it on my m8's GC and hated it. Was considering buying a cube for this and am now glad I didn't.

While it undeniably looks gorgeous, I personally found the gameplay to be terrible. I much prefer the Jedi Starfighter style, a bit closer to a sim but still with the mad shooting bits. There's just not enough freedom of movement for me :(

Although, they are supposed to be rare, and the MF is heavily (to the point of supitidy) modified.

its annoying being vegetarian, i spotted a brand new jet-black super hot pot noodle.. only to discover it wasn't veggie like the others :((((

I find this with good games in general, it's not until you see someone else play it that you can really apreciate the little touches, you can let your eye wander around the screen more and take it all in. Unfourtunatly the only other people to play my 'cube (my sis and nephew) didn't want to try it (both begging to play Lugig) but I've been orderd to take it over my mates at the weekend so I can have a better look then.

ps: great game

I think I read this tip on EG before, so the first thing I did was go to options screen to change it.

Doesn't seem to be as 'on rails' as others seem to suggest...

According to the developers postmortem on Gamasutra there is a combination of on-rail behaviour coupled with flocking AI for the TIEs, and presumably some of the other enemies as well. Well worth a read for those who are more technically minded and interested in the process of making games.

So... The question is, having spent on an Xbox this month, is it worth buying a GC next month just for rogue leader?
I did spend out full whack for a PS2 just to get to play GT3...

mentat - if you paid full whack for a PS2 (£300 or £200?) just to play GT3 then I would say yes, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a shop where you can play it first just to be sure

Yeah it was a prototype, I think the books had to cobble some excuse about it having a hyperdrive on board otherwise there was no way he could have left the Yavin system. This link has some good details about it.

I did, and I played it for a good while on a variety of missions. I thought it was too on-rails for my taste and I really missed having a target selector thingy (i am up on my spaceship jargon)

Oh well, I won't hold a grudge against you lot who love it, it's just not for me. different strokes and all that.

The GF was well narked when I told her I didn't want a cube though as she'd spent the whole day Saturday looking for a Woolies with the rogue leader bundle in stock.

On the more important subject of Jaffa cakes does anyone know if you can still get the other flavours, fruits of the forest I think was one and there was a green flavour as well.

Is it worth a GC just for Rogue Leader? I'd say so!

This is hopefully a good year for SW. With EP2 coming out next week, RL on GC and Knights on the 'box us fans are spoilt. If you are a true SW fan, go out and get this now. Just for the trench run. It's really THAT good and it outshines the other launch titles by miles.

Can't recommend this one highly enough. Not had any crashes mind.

Also. Jaffa Cakes. Get the Tesco Value ones as they taste like the old ones used to. Proper sponge, not the new 'cake' base (damn EU).

Good review Mugs, I'll have 2 sugs in mine boys!
