Actually, there is a "battle" version of Tetris called Xtet42, written in C for the X11 GUI system (usually found on Unix). The board was split on the middle with your area at the top and you opponent's at the bottom. Whenever you completed a row, the splitter would move one row down, meking your area larger and your opponent's smaller...

If you have GCC and the X11 libraries (e.g. if you have a Linux distribution) you can probably download and compile it from some "contrib" area on the net, do a Google search for it.

there is a "battle" version of Tetris called Xtet42
The original Gameboy version of Tetris has a brilliant link-up battle game where multiple lines completed were added onto the bottom of your opponent's screen. Man, I haven't played that in AGES!

We pity every poor bastard who claims to have topped it

i ruddy loved this game on PS - its THE best tetris clone. It is very,very satisfying to break a 5x5 block when u are just about to lose and completely turn the tables.

Buy.
