meh

na, this seriously looks like one of N's top games. I have to many games at the moment to go out of my way and get this but I'll try and borrow it from someone at some point.

It was a more positive review than Halo 2, at least ;-)

Nonetheless I can hear the collective cries of "meh" resounding throughout the continent. But who gives a shit, their loss \o/

This review is on a par with Lutz's honest Halo 2 review, great work. :)

Every now and again, I get a bit worried about my beloved old GameCube. Then Nintendo release a new Zelda game, or a new Mario RPG, and I remember why I still have one... Great review, btw

This game is fantastic, I've just taken a break to allow the wife to watch a bit telly before she goes to bed, after Coronation Street at 12:15 on ITV 2 I'll be back. Bollocks to Halo 2 and Xbox Live, if there was any justice in the videogaming world Paper Mario would out sell both San Andreas and Halo 2. But it won't, I've never enjoyed a game as much as this for a long time. Absolute quality.

Sounds EXACTLY like the N64 Paper Mario. Which isn't bad, except I still haven't finished it, so I'll give this one a miss

Any by justice in the gaming world, what you really mean is you wish more people had the same taste in games as you do. :)

Feanor: I only wish more people had the same taste in woman as me and perhaps someone would of married my wife before I did. :)

Personally I don't think the high scores that Halo 2 and Gta San Andreas received are justified, yes both games are good but not flawless as some reviews imply. HL2 is getting the same treatment, will this be another over hyped and uninspiring sequel or will it live up to it's billing?

I know everybody has different tastes in gaming, you can lead a horse to water, as they say. But honestly I believe that anyone that gives this game a chance would love it.

That's probably one of the most positive reviews I've ever read on Eurogamer. You can literally feel the love for the game oozing out of the words.
And now I'm very tempted to buy it. I loved Mario & Luigi, so I should like this.

Also, it's as good as Halo 2 :p

As good as Halo 2! Rubbish, it's miles better ;-)

Had to take a long lunch yesterday to go and buy a Gamecube just for this and Tales of Symphonia. Not disappointed so far, it's a truly lovely game.

No Bart I don't, I think you should get GTA San Anreas and when you get frustrated you can go out and kill people. :)

Seriously I can't say whether you'll love this game or not Bart, the learning curve is great. I've played for about 6 hours and I haven't been frustrated once. I have both the Gamecube and Xbox set up on the same TV, I want to go on Live and see which Eurogamers are on-line playing Halo 2. The problem is Paper Mario has sucked me in so much, that I can't be bothered.

Put a fair few hours into this today and so far I'm loving it. I'm up to the woods so far and it's really begining to open up.

I would say it's very similar to ML:SSS so if you liked that it's a must.

Bart,
the battle system is basically the same with a few nice twists and additions but if the only bit you really hated of ML:SSS was the skipping then I reckon you should give this a go.

re: the skipping, afaik you only had to do the first skipping challenge, not the rest, I'm fairly sure I only ever did the first two.

I think you should give this a rental at least.

LOL! Not living up to your name there, Sid...

As a dedicated Daily Mail reader, I'm very concerned about the audience participation in the battles. Is Mario killing for their entertainment? Sounds a little too close to Manhunt, if you ask me.

Ban this sick filth now!

(And will someone please get Princess Peach some decent security? How many times has the silly bint been kidnapped now?)

Well, I finally bought this game... I might have done so sooner if I had not missed this review somehow. I even thought it wouldn't be out in Europe until mid-December. Imagine my surprise when I heard from friends it was already out.

This game is really quite a treat. I'm only about 4 hours in but the game is proving to be a blast. It's so much fun!

I seem to recall that the reason that the Game Cube usually gets refered to as GCN rather than NGC is the fact that Nintendo tried to trademark the acronym NGC only to find out that somebody else already had.

This game is, without a doubt, the greatest game on the Gamecube. It's smooth, clever, addictive, fast and action-packed with buckets of replay value.

I recently bought the game after it went the Player's Choice route and became instantly less expensive... and I haven't been able to put it down. The skipping-class-to-play kind of not being able to put it down.

The only things that kinda.. irked me in the game? A computer falls in love with Peach after seeing her in the shower... and one of Mario's sidekicks has a chest to rival Dolly Parton. Makes the cutesy appeal of Mario a little.. awkward at times.
