I can't say I hate it ... my hatred is something I reserve for, shall we say, special occasions, such as Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and FIFA Street. This game does not provoke me on a basic level. However, it stuns me by being so horridly unfun. It must have something to do with expectations, because looking at the relatively lavish graphics, you expect something, you expect a little direction and you expect a little production value. Instead you get shit. Insepid shit. Another game I dislike. I gave it two hours yesterday, and I'm starting to think that was it. Four hours, and no fun.

Brombeer: I'm 20, and I feel jaded. I can't begin to comprehend the suffering you must go through. Does it get any easier with age?

You sad twat Ace, everyone knows that Only On X-Box means that it won't be appearing on PS2 or GameCube, but there is no reason NOT to see it on the PC at some later date.

Now, as you can't see me, your Mother sucks cocks in Hell, phuckphace...

Only complaint so far is the bloody load times.
Jeeeesauce with a harddrive on board you would think they could keep this down.

/is pissed off at the mo doing the Gold Arena fight against all opponents. Should be easy but I have had a few and the load times are driving me nuts.

Other than that still 9+/10

Personally, I don't care if an RPG has poor combat. The characters, plot and dialogue are so much more important, which is one of the reasons why I loved PS:T so much. It had average combat, but the situations where you were actually forced to resort to combat were few and far between. In contrast, practically every major quest in the BG games ended in a battle.

The trouble with the dialogue in Jade Empire is that it doesn't seem like a conversation at all - The person just stand spouts line after line of dialogue with little reaction to anything anybody else might say. Not to mention the fact that they basically just stand there and recite lines like they are glued in place. It's very, very tedious.

I suppose thats the price you pay for interactivity but I still prefer the FF/JRPG way of doing cut scenes.

ereewr: Well I'd certainly place it under "West like" in style, if not in content. It isn't like FF (which I'm not a big fan of). The combat, while simplistic, is still enjoyable - much more so that turn-based, and I list Baldur's Gate 2 as my second favourite game ever (Deus Ex is no. 1, in case anyone cares)

All in all I love it. Great atmosphere, great music, great graphics, great story.....I'm getting a tad repetitive now. Also, as my first xbox experience (my evil genius mate has lent me his during our exam period to both corrupt me and get it out of his reach) I am mildly suprised to find that using a pad isn't a drawback. Although it would look *even better* on a PC.

the resident GIMP: To my shame I've never played it. Tried last year but couldnt get it to co-operate with XP. However, anyone who feels the need to type "sucksorz" and "d00d" is asking to be ignored.

>I wonder why, because it's the same as Jade Empire, only the setting is different. And Star Wars, for some reason, stills sells.

You miserable PC RPGer :-)

98% of the world think that KOTOR is brilliant. And they're right.

Hello
Get on ebay and pick up Morrowind (game of the year or normal) on xbox, you will not play a better REAL rpg than this. I think you can pick it up for under £8.00.

I had a problem with morrowind (original) , in that I was never sure whether I was actually hitting a baddie or just waving my sword/dagger/axe ineffectually in front of them,

Either some kind of spurt of blood or an amused expression on the face of the enemy would have been useful. Was this fixed for game of the year edition??

kotor wasnt hard either, dont you think (whether rightly or wrongly), that bioware are trying to make stories that you can easily progress in rather than get stuck, embracing the "interactive movie" and bringing gaming to the masses...
WOW for example isnt hard, its simply a matter of how long you are willing to play it.
