let's have a closer look at what you get for your £30+

And they wonder why these things sell about four copies. £30! £30! For a boggo-standard licensed shite platformer! Bloody hell!

Never heard of it, or of a hero called Tony before. What time do the irate comic book fans wake up?

There is even a fan webring: -

ahhhhh the invincible iron man - the hero with a dodgy ticker.

Actually when you think about it Marvel were doing a lot promoting the disabled well before it was fashionable.

Iron Man - dodgy heart
Thor - a puny bloke with a bad leg
Daredevil - blind
Captain America - American

As an aside, I just purchased the Activision Anthology for PS2: 45 golden oldies like River Raid ported to the PS2 (or running in a 2600 emu, I don't care), for the nice price of NOK 399,- or about £30 given the difference in VAT.

That's *45* games, most of them immensely playable, for a lower price than this single and apparently unimpressive game.

Edit: Got the name wrong, and frankly a lot of them suck. But it has Pitfall and Pitfall II...

"We just can't seem to explain the positive response this game has met with in the US, where several reviewers said it was only a certain distance from being a vanguard of its genre."

Your not thinking clearly. The American's actually hate it but are being subtle for once.

Vanguard = in front
A certain distance from = somewhere other than that place.

therefore "certain distance from being a vanguard of its genre." means that it isn't at the vanguard of its genre but is actually the fat guy with ill fitting shorts and dodgy glasses bringing up the rear on the route march.

Then again maybe the yanks do actually think its great and are actually as dumb as we think.
