8/10 is the score. 9/10 IMO. The Eurogamer staff do a review and the computer picks a score at random. :)

"Please don't tell me I need to get a GBA as well as a DS to play this."

The game doesn't work on the DS. It's a GameCube game controlled by a GBA.

As to who cried, I nearly bloody cried when Tom shoved me off a ledge and nicked my bloody force gems AGAIN. The sod.

(I didn't though. I'm well 'ard.)

You can't fault 4 Swords for the connectivity, it's pure genius. Played this over the last few weekends and it's a blast. I can't fault it, for me it's one of the top games on the GC. Unless you've got no mates...

I would say the only negative point, for me, would be the short number of maps in Shadow Battle (multiplayer). Shame; it's a giggle.

so there's still no way to play this multiplayer without four gameboys?... /sigh
I've got friends who would love this, but not to the tune of £80...

on DS connectivity: is this just cuz the current connector won't fit, and so can we expect a third-party connector, or did Nintendo screw non-gba owners in an effort to keep the gba alive in the face of the ds?

I really want a DS so I can enjoy GBA *and* DS games, but I also want to enjoy the connectivity, which may not be a big deal, but I'm missing out. Unless I shell out for both handhelds!

I bought an old GBA off a mate for 20-odd quid. See what you can find on ebay. There'll be plenty going about now that people have started to get the DS and don't need their GBAs anymore.

I don't think you follow - the DS doesn't have a link port at all. The only sockets on it are the power socket and the headphone socket.

I'm utterly put off by the requirement for GBAs and the graphics - i'm all for retro styling but this is awful. IF they bring a similar version of this out for the DS i won't be happy!

Heh, second reference to onanism in an EG review :) /curtains

This multiplayer thing is confusing though. I played it two player at the stagLAN last year, and in that mode the L button still arranges your little group of two links. And presumably it's only in the single player mode that you don't need a GBA - a pop-up screen would get in the way otherwise. Shame, that.

Still, it is a great fun little co-op adventurer, of which there are far too few in the world. Even though I found myself getting confused between the GBA screen and the main screen on occasions, I'd still recommend it.

Damn, this is confusing, someone please put me out of my misery here. Say I, with a GC and a gameboy abut no link cable, would like to play this with 4 people. Could we all just use the normal controllers?

I want this game so much! If it's anything like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles then joy! For those who don't know, multi-player gaming with a Cube and GBA's is an absolutely superb dynamic with the individual screens helping gameplay continuity. I'll be sad if this kind of connectivity dies with the Cube.

Oh man, I'm still confused. No friends, so single player only... would I still like it? Some say yes, others say no....

I'll get it when it comes out on Player's Choice.

To be fair, it IS a big deal for a lot of people. I've got two kids who are well into Zelda and I'd love to be able to play through this with them, and I shouldn't have to fork out for two more (otherwise useless) GBAs just for the privilege. It's the same reason I ended up not bothering with Crystal Chronicles. There are dozens of other games I need to finish in the time I have to myself, so when the kids are about I obviously want something we can play together.

Using connectivity to enhance the game is all well and good, but there really should be some workaround for those who don't have/can't afford multiple GBAs... making it perfectly playable with a normal controller in single-player just highlights the wasted possibility. The multiplayer requirements are frankly stupid - they can't be doing the sales any good, and I doubt the people buying extra GBAs will completely make up for that.

Ho hum. Back to Mario Kart, Smashy and Wario Ware...

This game is the best Gamecube game there is. I really hope that Zelda DS is like this - the dual screen could actually be put to good use, finally. Wireless too. Lovely.

Indeed, the DS is tailor made for multi-player games like this. How ironic though that these moaners will still have to buy 4 DS's to play though ;-)
