It says Chicken Little on the box, but it's not - to a kid - in the game? Pfft. It's no Rumbly Tumbly Adventure or Dora the Explorer's Purple Planet then...

Well, that's a surprise...I still think he's giving kids too much credit though. It's certainly not true that kids will like anything; they are discerning, and they will like some things, and not others. Problem is, "quality" is not often one of their criteria; it's usually more along the lines of "is it too challenging, ie boring", "is SpongeBob in it" or "is the box colourful". That's why the movie/TV tie-in industry remains so prolific, despite the usually risible product quality, and which is why it's heartening to see that sometimes the developers DO have enough professional pride to make an effort, even though they know they don't need to...

Also: I'm beginning to suspect that EG don't even have Zelda, and they're using stuff like the Zelda retrospective to stall us until they can eBay a copy.

Prove me wrong, EG: when is it coming, and who's reviewing it? I've got my metaphorical money on an 8/10...

You could make exactly the same claims about adults though. Look at the crap that sells well: it's mostly big name licences, adults are buying truckloads of games just cos of the name on the box.

It's only a minority of gamers, adults or kids, who actually go to some trouble to find out what the gems are in amongst the manure.

It's also worth remembering that, most of the time, kids this age aren't the ones who actually make the purchase. It's parents who pick up games because they recognise the characters on the box.

Most of those games end up gathering dust very quickly, but by that time the sale has already been made.

I was expecting a game with a chick, instead they've cocked it up...
