I knew it, this game is going to rock, the demo was so good I couldn't believe it, truly one of a kind and a modern classic. Bioshock FTW.

The story is fantastic. That is all you need to know. You could write an entire review purely on that element of the game alone. Same with the combat and plasmid upgrade system. Same with the intricacies of the graphics and audio.

There's so much stuff I didn't even really touch on, but I hope the main thrust of why this game is good came across.

I didn't realise I was swept up in the Bioshock hype until I literally spent all day at work refreshing the official forum page at the Cult of Rapture concerning how 'Toys 'R Us' breached the official US release date (deluding myself about the date being brought forward, yet simultaneously knowing full well that would never ever happen...). System Shock 2/Deus Ex obviously have an unconscious power over me...

That's when I realised I was a little bit unhealthily excited.

When I saw this review at quarter past twelve, I ran downstairs, poured a drink, ran back up, sat down, and braced myself for the read. I haven't acted like this since I was about 14 (minus the drink part). I'm now 23. This is mighty ridiculous.

Might Shadowrun fill the multiplayer niche to the type of gaming/combat this game provides in it's single player?

Can't wait to get this, and before the demo and hype machine kicked in a couple of weeks ago it was just another game I thought I might get round to trying in the next 12 months. I know it's on PC too but these days the "hardcore" are actually console gamers, like Oblivion I expect this to sell 80%+ of its copies on 360.

krudster: The implementation for the audio system is really smart, I was quite impressed by the way it works by calculating paths. If only more games thought about sound propagation. It adds so much to the ambience.

For the past year I've felt like maybe I was "getting too old" to be a gamer. Nothing coming out excited me or gave me that excited "can't wait to play this" feeling that I used to get in my younger years.

I'm beyond glad to say that playing the demo for this game has totally shaken this feeling and has me beyond excited to play this game. I'm drawn to all the gaming websites and forums looking for news of this game, yet not wanting to read a word anybody is saying out of fear of spoiling this game.

Krudster, I agree with you when you said that everybody should go out and buy this game to show the industry that THESE are the games we want to buy and support. I dont want graphical trickery alone, I want involvement in my destiny within the game and to play it the way I feel. I want emotional involvement. The demo teased me with a taste of whats to come, and I'm crawling out of my skin waiting to dive into it headfirst.

God I can't wait to pick up this game, fire up my TV and surround system and just bask in the beauty that is this game. I feel like I'm about to get laid for the first time or something..it's just unbelievable how hyped I am about this.

No offence or anything but was this a review of the demo or the full game? The more I read through it, the more it seems to reflect the demo content. Or am I reading it wrong (like Hudson)?

It's pre-ordered already, as i'd already decided via the demo, so I don't doubt the gushing praise whatsoever but it does read very similar to my experiences of the demo and then it kinda ends when the demo ends...

Or maybe I expect too much contrast in gameplay post-demo content, but i'd heard there were dozens and dozens of Plasmid types?
