Thanks to whoever implemented IE's status bar so I didn't have to click on that to know what it was ;)

And indeed, the 60Hz mode info will be very useful in future.

Talking of Soccer Slam, any chance of a review? I want to know if they changed anything in the GC version which has taken around 4 months to be released.

Funny.

Its had some stuff added so its the same as the Xbox version. Apparently its slightly smoother than the XB version as its the native version.

I believe you are thinking of the other volleyball game there Razz. On a related note, I would be willing to bet that either a cheat code or an action replay would be able to 'nakify' the characters in DOAXV (not that there would that much of a change)

I should have guessed that link would only spur Errol on.

Nice to see an honest and well-considered review of this game. It would have been to easy to have slated it for having no substance and relying on semi-naked women. Let's face it - *drum roll* a game based purely around beach volley ball is always going to have it's knockers. *cymbal crash*

My other half liked the look of it but got totally fed up trying to maneouvre around the paint spill on the airstrip thirty seconds into the game. LOL! I've had about three serious sessions with it, up to 9 whole shines now, go meh, it *is* an absolute blast though I'm not keen on those abstract platform bits (disintegrating sand platforms anyone? Bleh... Not helped by a camera that insists on hiding you from the action...). Oh yes Beach Spikers...

As for Beach Spikers, I think I'll get it, just to see if it is as good as Beach Volleyball on the Amiga (which wasn't very good, but was one of those games I mastered in my youth).

This is a serious point people - we all see the need to get our other halfs to play the occasional game, so they don't complain (as much!) about the amount of online-ordered little parcels that come through the door, but to the extent that we can't get on to collect Shines?

My 'skills' are so feeble that the only reason I've got the half the shines I have is because I watched 'her' get them first. *grumble*

I never bother logging out (it's not as if i ever post here on a work computer *hard stares all round*) so there ain't a lot I can do, I'm afraid. We're all going to be victims of female-posting terrorism. Sorry.

Well - she did say that when Banjo 3 comes out we can get an X-Box! I'm off to se a solicitor tomorrow and get it drawn up so that it's all nice and legally binding. Now I just need to get permission to extend the mortgage and build an extension big enough to fit one in.

To keep everyone happy, i've got my own username. Besides, even though i remeber saying "we don't need to buy a gamecube, we already have dreamcast, N64, playstation2, 2 GBA's, 2 PCs and a sega saturn" (which is gathering dust), I now see the error of my ways. (Theres also my old C64 but thats more nostalgic than gaming).

In fact thanks to Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine, Super Monkeyball, Jak and Daxter and others i spend more time on it than Foz. The other consoles have good games, but nothing as addictive as Gamecube. Although i have been known to lose myself in Diablo II and suddenly find its 4am.

As for the extension, we already have one room dedicated to the consoles and PCs, complete with big comfy sofa for ultimate gameplaying comfort - which means no room for a guest bedroom. What we do need an extended mortgage for is all the tvs needed for the consoles!

No, but still we don't have enough tvs. We have the main one downstairs, then bought another large one for the consoles - but it means, as all the consoles are upstairs in the game room, only one of us can play one of the consoles at once.

Mind you, theres b*gger all on the tele at the mo, maybe i'll get foz to hoick the other one upstairs :)

Nope, very real. I've just never believed in sticking to stereotypes. Believe me, i can nag like a girl when the mood takes me. I can't believe i'm the only gal who loves gaming, thers supposed to be a growing trend of us (none of my female friends are among them- sigh), and, as the best games tend to be console games, more tvs = less fighting over whose turn it is to play SMS (mine off course!).

I was wondering, is it just a girlie thing or does anyone else find peach really annoying? I keep hoping shadow mario will keep her in SMS. When playing Mario Party 1-3, one of the few games foz and i play together now, i always pick her as a computer player just to have a real enemy to play against (yes, i know, that's terribly sad).

Can only speak from my own view but.. I've gone through plenty of sites in the past few years and very rarely have I actually bothered registering to participate on messgae boards. On the rare occasions I did I soon got disillusioned by the standard of 'debate' which tended to be one group of people shouting at another and neither listening. Anything you said brought a volley of abuse from one side or the other. Couldn't be doing with it.

This site on the other hand seemed to have a more mature bunch of posters. The the one that completely won me over was a Bank Holiday a few months back - managed to have a (almost) heated debate with otto re Palestinian terrorism / eu funding / US foreign policy. When offering an opinion over something as petty as a computer game usually gets incoherent abuse it was nice to discuss something that actually matters in a relatively civilised manner.

To be honest - BGiE and his ilk may get criticised here but they're a hell of a lot more rational than a lot of people you find on other forums.

And Errol always makes me smile...

You are absolutely right - everytime I take a look at other forums, I soon turn away again. The only exception was the IGN PS2 Pal board a few months/years ago, before they decided you have to pay there. Was a real nice bunch of people. Anyone posted there, too? Really bad are the German forums. The people are less aggressive than on other forums, but they always seem a little...hm, stupid.

Gave Beach Spikers a jolly good seeing to last night (phnaar, phwoar, etc), and found it quite addictive and fun. The blocking game is too much of a guessing game for my liking, but I guess it makes it more of a spike-fest rather than a block-o-rama (hence the game title I presume). Some more point win/ victory/ defeat animations would've been nice too.
