R6 Vegas content hits Live

Five maps, two new modes.

Ubisoft has released a batch of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Priced 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30), the Player's Pack: Red Edition introduces a pair of new game modes and five multiplayer maps that support those and all the other game modes.

The new game modes are Assassination, in which one team escorts a VIP to the extraction zone while the other tries to kill him, and Total Conquest, in which two teams fight for control of three mobile radar installations (control points). Capture and hold, effectively.

Of the maps, a couple may prove familiar, as Border Town and Killhouse are "Redux" versions of existing battlefields. Newcomers are the Marshalling Yard, set in an industrial district, Doscala Restaurant, an Italian eatery in the heart of Las Vegas, and Roof, set in (or indeed on) a coffee factory near the Mexican border. Each of the new maps is fit for and recommended for 16 player matches.

For more on the content, check in at the official Ubisoft Rainbow Six: Vegas website, where they have been running regular updates on the maps, with shots and even the odd bit of strategic guidance.

Failing that, you could always re-read our Rainbow Six: Vegas Xbox 360 review while you wait for things to download.

  • kangarootoo #5 5 years ago

    Yay!

    And I agree, a good price (£6.40 if you buy your points from play.com). Watch and learn other DLC vendors.

    so 3 maps and 2 modes. If you assume the maps are £2 each, and the 2 game modes 40p each thats not bad really.

    Thats like 2/3 pints down the local pub. so as long as you get a couple of hours play out of them its a winner IMHO. And im sure ill get way more than that !

    @ManicMinerUK

    Well ok, lets not split hairs too finely. This is not the bargain of the century, neither is it a rip off.

    Seem most of us all agree it sits somewhere in the middle. And thats probably about as clear as things are going to get.

    Ubisoft sure love releasing remixed maps at a price, don't they? Surely it would make more sense to give the "redux" levels away as free content (since they must have cost next to nothing to tweak) as a way of coaxing people to buy the other 3 *new* maps at a lower cost of 400 MP?

    I used to buy these levels on the Xbox but then they only cost £2.99 and many were free. With the 360, I've not bought any as I think the two-fold increase in price is a little excessive for what you get in the way of new content, usually less than what you got on the old Xbox.

    Manic: I imagine people work out how many hours of fun they'll get out of it, and divide the cost by that. If the resulting figure is over the magical threshold for that person (based I guess on how much moola they have) then it's good value :)

    if C/F > MT then BUY! else BYE!

    C = Cost, F = Fun and MT = Magical Threshold

    If people keep buying the content publishers will keep charging for it. Sorry for restating the obvious. I'm really looking forward to Halo3, but I'm really dreading the downloadable onslaught that will accompany it.

    "I don't think this is bad value at all.. what I don't understand is why some of YOU think this is good value?"

    Ehh? so you don't think it's good value but you don't think it's bad value. yeah great.

    wanna be home so much.....i must put in at least 2 hours a night on this. the xbox R6 series has always been the best money spent.

    any word on the mini golf game?
  • GreasyWeasel #16 5 years ago

    BorderTown Redux is there it just can't be played on co-op games for some reason. Choose any other game type and it's there as a map.
  • kangarootoo #17 5 years ago

    Any word on whicyh of these maps can be played in a co-op game (besides the one previously mentioned).

    Terrorist hunt would be fine if there was bloody respawn (realism be damned), but there isn't so co-op is really when the proper non-dm fun is.
  • thefilthandthefury #18 5 years ago

    Can they be done on Terrorist Hunt? It's the only mode I play.
