R.U.S.E. given firm UK date

Goes all-in this September.

Ubisoft's given RTS game R.U.S.E. a 17th September release date. That's on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, according to the publisher's latest schedule.

The date arrives after Ubisoft's public beta test in April. The game was delayed in order to deal with "massive feedback" from fans, and the developer is considering a second beta before launch to test the new bout of changes.

R.U.S.E., inspired by tabletop strategists, allows you to deceive your opponent using ruses and perhaps an off-putting moustache. Should you succeed, the gates to conquest will lay wide open.

We've had a butcher's; our impressions of the beta tell all.

Isn't Civ 5 given a September release date as well? :/

17th September? Or maybe it's a cunning trick...

It's a game i've not rearly focused on but reading the hands on seems like a very interesting game.

No doubt the slow pace won't suit everybodys taste but i think i could see myself spending the afternoon with a cup of coffee and a few dunky biscuits taking on the might of an opposing army.

Sounds quite a bit like chess.

The beta didn't really do much for me - the interface in particular felt clunky and things just didn't feel quite right. Perhaps that's something they'll have addressed for the rumoured second beta.

Tom Clancy's Endwar is fine RTS for consoles, and works effectively due to using voice control, though I use a mixture of voice control & joypad. The controls are perfect, it's not overdone with bombarding the screen with too many units (usually you can't figure out what's happening on other games that do this!), also it's a simple interface that makes a joy to play - and this is one of the best tactical rts online games I've played (better then C&C TW + KW, Halo Wars, Supreme Commander 1 & 2,)...simple to get into, not over complex with useless micromanagement, able to see what's happening onscreen, great online, best controls system - worth checking in into strategy.

Not the same genre i know, but releasing a game the same week as Halo reach wont help the sales of the 360 version.

Not to beat a dead horse, but in a year of RTS's, it wasn't hard to drop this from my list purely because of the fairly nutty DRM.

Sorry RUSE, I might've considered you at one point, but there are other strategy games I can be spending my money on. The developers had better hope this kicks off on the consoles, because I don't rate its chances on the PC when releasing in the wake of Starcraft 2.
