Open PC beta has begun.

Ubisoft's bluff-based strategy game R.U.S.E. will be released on 4th June on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The date arrives as a public PC beta test gets underway on Steam, granting access to six factions, seven maps and three multiplayer modes. Head over to Steam's R.U.S.E. page to join in.

R.U.S.E., for those who don't know, involves tricking opposing generals by using a number of pre-defined ruses. It's a clever idea, and we delved into the multiplayer side of the game this December past to see how it worked. Our hands-on impressions of R.U.S.E. tell all.

This one has had me intrigued since the initial reveal last year. Now that it's been dated I'm almost looking forward to the pre-release hype as thus far we just don't know enough about it.

Steam have updated their webpage for RUSE confirming that it will indeed have Ubisoft's idiotic DRM ... no buy for me.

Having had a few games of the beta, it seems pretty average. The whole knowledge-manipulation business is interesting, but otherwise it's a pretty clunky standard RTS. Not good enough to make me regret that I wouldn't buy it anyway because of the DRM.

Deleted the beta as soon as I found out it uses that DRM. Didn't want to risk actually liking it.

I really, really, really want to buy this, it's a shame I can't due to the DRM Ubi have added. I want to buy a game and use it wherever and whenever i want. Not only in a location where I can be guaranteed the internet won't cut out, like on my laptop in a hotel.

I hate you Ubisoft.
