Expect the worst so anything more than that will be a nice surprise.

I think there's almost no point in comparing it to or even discussing Goldeneye. It's like giving the Halo licence to Raven Software and hoping they'll come up with something as good as the first game. The chances of it happening are so incredibly small that it's barely worth mentioning.

Goldeneye sucked balls.

I quite liked some of the recent efforts. Um.. the ones that I had on the gamecube were decent enough - fun multiplayer. The xbox one I had was tat all 3rd person.

@ dsmx - to be fair, perhaps that's based on the opener from the film?

That's it!! Enough!! I've had it!!etc etc

Would someone PLEASE re-format the Eurogamer pages so they can be viewed effectivly by iPhone users - by wrapping the text around the ads you are seriuosly compromising usability...

Wot no mini game involving being strapped to a chair and trying to avoid having your nuts whipped to a pulp? Surely a missed opportunity for the Wii version.

I don't even expect the movie to be any good. The game isn't on my radar at all.

Yeah you could strap the wiimote to your privates and dodge left or right. With realistic force feedback!

I've seen these mousetraps demoed. A ballroom with a chandelier waiting to be toppled? Fine. But loads of explosive gas canisters that some careless person had just left scattered about this fancy hotel? No. Enough of this silliness.

Agreed. Just playing through Battlefield Bad Company and the amount of explodable red cannisters left lying around near buildings is laughably old school.
Mind you in Bond movies like Goldeneye there were plenty of examples of fuel cannisters handily placed in explosion-prone bases so they're only being true to the source.

This is true, but in the balcony of a fancy ballroom?

Explodable barrels and shiny glinty halos on the set pieces in the sewer level. You can shoot them with your MP5!

I do love a game with original ideas.

Yeah, MI5 is internal homeland security, MI6 is external.

Looking forward to this (JUST ONCE Activision, mess it up and I'll never buy another one from you), but no splitscreen multiplayer? That's a bit rubbish. Are all gamers these days anti-social misfits? Or have they always been and I'm only just noticing?

Here is the "other" Eurogamer hands on experience - which seems to coincide more with the videos I have seen of the game.

It is quite downbeat and mysteriously absent from Eurogamer latest news links on this article - even though it was written about 8 weeks ago???

Hmm, genuine mistake? Or Eurogamer spin?

@mkreku: I hope the move is good because it's the only one I plan to see this year in the cinema. :p

I'm taking a "wait and see" approach towards this game.

Has anyone played Goldeneye recently? It's fucking abysmal, the lack of second analogue stick makes movement clunky

Plug in a second joypad - and dual sticks becomes available in the control menu.
