Quake Wars demo next week News

PC News by Robert Purchese

5 September, 2007

Developer Splash Damage has confirmed that a demo for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will be available to download on Monday.

It will give PC gamers the chance to try out the title's fast-paced online action.

The demo should also provide an idea of what to expect when the full game launches on 28th September now that two beta tests have been conducted to help iron out the kinks.

The PC version of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is being created by Splash Damage under the watchful eye of id Software. It marks the beginning of what both hope to be a new and successful franchise, rather than a spin-off of an old one.

We recently went to see the game and talk to the people behind it at the annual QuakeCon event in Dallas.

Pop over to the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars gamepage to find out more.

The closed beta thing was just random death hell, a big let down.

I hope it isn't crap. It sounded like it was going to be a great LAN party staple.

I recently installed the Quake 4 demo on my new system and found it ran about 1/3rd of the speed Doom 3 used to on my old 6600GT. Hope that problem doesn't stick around with ET:QW.

I played the Beta 2 earlier in August and to get a decent framerate on my PC ( X2 4200, 2Gb, X1800XT 512MB) in 1680x1050 res I had to really turn down the Gfx settings to the point it looked pretty crappy. Fingers crossed it gets optimised between Beta 2 and retail.

It ran okay on my 7600GT had to turn the graphics right down though... Also tended to have some bizzare freeze ups

Anyone know what map the demo will have? I've really been enjoying the beta. Each class works in a nice unique way.

I enjoyed the demo very much, and I'm playing on a Mobility Radeon 9800. That's a really crappy card.

I thought the last Beta was a bit crap. There was little team play, just some randoms running around every man for himself. Went back to CS

It also didnt seem to be optimized that well. Hope the final games turns out better.

Isn't that a comment on the state of the audience and not the game itself? Or does the game manage to promote that kind of play where CS magically promotes team play? Cos I've always found on net play your choice of server is everything, despite the game.
