Puzzle Quest heading to PSP Store

D3 converting UMD games online.

D3Publisher will be offering six previously UMD-based games on the PSP Store later this year.

Puzzle Quest, the excellent PSP blend of puzzle and RPG that we waxed lyrical about back in early April 2007, leads the charge.

The other titles on offer will be Dead Head Fred, Cube, Practical IQ, Beta Bloc, and Super Pocket Tennis.

Prices are from GBP 7.49 upwards. We expect Puzzle Quest to be at the top end, although nothing has been confirmed.

Sony Japan recently announced plans to implement a true PSP Store - which is to say games downloaded direct to the handheld rather than via PC - this autumn.

European plans are yet to be set.

Might well bag Puzzle Quest for the commute. I barely use my PSP these days, and I want to change that habit.

I really like WTF. But I realise it's not everybody's cup of tea.

If the bug is fixed, I'd hit it.

Is it just me that thinks if you replaced the UMD drive with a 20gb flash drive or such, and then made games downloadable from now on, with demos of course, that the PSP would be so much better? Imagine sitting in a cafe shop, reading the review on the latest hot game, then hitting the PSP store to download it? By the time your coffee has been drunk, you're starting that new game.

I mean it works with steam... right?

I've been using my PSP more and more recently. Finished Squad Command, nearly finished Ratchet and Clank, and also started R-Type Command too. My DS has had no love recently! :p

The Store is implemented through firmware, so if Sony Japan say they'll do it, it should go online worldwide.

I'd buy Puzzle Quest and Cube myself.
