Punisher shooter for PSN next week News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

23 June, 2009

Zen Studios will release The Punisher: No Mercy on the PlayStation Store next Thursday.

So says studio boss Zsolt Kigyossy, who writes on the US PlayStation blog that the game will cost 10 dollars.

There's no word on European specifics, but we'll try to find out more.

The Punisher: No Mercy is a fast-paced first-person shooter with both story mode and online arena-style multiplayer. The inspiration is obviously the brutal Marvel character The Punisher who, like Jack Bauer, considers killing, torture and general destruction as a means to an end.

There are a couple of new screenshots on the US PlayStation blog for those interested.

I was vaguely interested in this when it was first announced, but I've got too many online shooters and don't really want another. What's more, BF1943 will probably be a lot better.

Hopefully there will be a demo.

+1 for a demo...

It perked my interest for a little online (no disk required) deathmatch action.

But since the announcement of BF1943... well my attention has been drawn to that (enjoyed Bad Company)

$10? it'll probably be about £7.99 in the UK.

I am however concerned with the amount of effort that has seemed to have been put into this title. Single player campaign, multiplayer online and the use of a marvel license. it seems a tad too cheap and i wonder if quality has been overlooked in the favor of content... however, i it gets some decent reviews, I'll fork out £8 to give it a try!

could be a diamond in the rough, could be like waking up next to a really rough bird after too much Jim Beam...

Having said that...£8 of my reasonably hard earned won't be too bad.

The chances of getting a demo are slim :(

I bet that not even 10% of the PSN line-up launched alongside a demo, hence why my list of purchases isn't as long as it might have been had they been a bit more like XBL.
