This game has come out of nowhere for me, but looks like it might be worth a shot at some point

Another fucking hamster simulator, I hate Nintendo these days they've truly forgotten the fans who got them where they are today.

The ad with the moronic Welsh boxer killed my excitement for the game; the first paragraph of the review had me worried, all in all this sounds like a good purchase.

Another review which makes no mention of all the flaws, the dodgy frame-rate, the single knock-down animation of the opponents etc. Oh well, I don't like to be a troll, but for me this is in now way an 8/10.

Is that because they don't exist? I've quite a few reviews for Punch Out!! and I don't remember reading about 'dodgy' frame-rate or viewing single knock-down animations for each character as being a negative. Looking at your game collection it doesn't appear that you even have a Wii let alone played Punch Out!!.

It would be nice to see a Wii review start without the typical lazy preface about nintendo abandoning the 'hardcore'.

Or did you just have one extra paragraph to write to meet quota?

Yet ironically I'm guessing they don't make much money from you.

Not worth 8/10? Funny how I have only seen one review less than 8 for this and that was 7.5. Why is it that when a good Nintendo game come out there just HAS to be problems, is just a shame people cannot accept that the Wii can produce decent games from time to time and that these same people may, if they tried them, get a lot of enjoyment from them.

But hey, being blindly biased seems to be the order of the day at times, I'm just glad to can enjoy all the games I want on all systems and be happy with what I play.

Not at all, it was one of the main reasons which led me to believe you're an idiot. What's it like living in a world that constantly laughs at you, when you don't understand why?

To answer you're somewhat strange question from the bottom of your last post, no.

Pretty solid reviews all round for this, and I have always been tempted by a new Punch Out!!

Not sure if I'll get it at full price but it's a definite purchase when the price drops, which might be quite a while seeing as Nintendo's game seem to hold their price for much longer than the competition.

Yes I do, I think it has very high production values. It's presentation is lovely and it's obviously very well made.

Anything but cheaply made. It's had a decent amount of time spent on it, is very well polished ergo: not cheaply made.

Pirotic reviewed it in the forum thread, saying:

Secondly the framerate is piss poor, it's locked to 30fps but the majority of the time it's hovering just below that, which gives the impression it's always struggling. Boxing is a fluid sport based on timing, so having the framerate which isn't rock solid is certainly knock out blow for me. During the breaks inbetween rounds you get a 'split' view of both fighters, and my god, not only does the framerate drop to unacceptable levels but the cell-shading frame buffer effect starts screwing right up as well.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but I find the difference in statements about the framerate impossible to reconcile. It's either got a smooth framerate or it hasn't. FFS.

More of this please!!!

Not only does it seem to be a fully fleshed out game in terms of learning curve, campaign difficulty and additional challenges but the developers also acknowledged how infuriatingly rubbish games like this are using motion controls for everything and provided a good compromise.

By compromise I mean allowing buttons as modifiers plus a small range of easily recognised gesture controls rather than a full set of utterly vague waggle controls trying to control every aspect of the fight and resulting in a sloppy, random mess.

They have also provided a traditional alternative using no motion controls, and this I cannot applaud highly enough. It means you have the flexibility to play the game how you are most comfortable.

To top it all off it looks like a fun and well presented game too. It's not my kind of game so I won't be buying it, but the developers certainly get respect for doing things 'the right way'.

I never asked for remakes of classic games- I asked for classic gameplay to be reintroduced into new games... Nintendo's gone and ignored me again dammit!

I just picked up my copy. Although I had a snes, i never played it on that or any other version so will be a first for me who is normally a fan of the FNR3/UFC style. So looking forward to this being totally different, and from the looks of it, bloody frustrating until you can master it. Hurrah for the option to switch controls to. It may not have been a purchase if that function wasnt in it.

As I've said before if you're not happy with the games get rid of your Wii but then it's only being kept because deep down there you know that a Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc... title you're dying to play is gonna jump out at that shop window sooner rather than later!

I'm in. Iron Mike is going down and he is not getting anywhere close to my ears! :P

The original was awesome and still the best boxing game I've ever played. Second favorite was Rocky Balboa.

I wonder how this will fare against the Wii Sports Boxing game? I didn't get into it too much as each fight felt like a workout but I might revisit it at some point. :D

Got it yesterday, good game but way too short. Played it for a few hours yesterday and I'm already 2 fights away from winning the World title. After that you have to defend your title 10 times in a row I think
